It's playing out in the court system in Florida or hopefully will be soon.
I shudder to think how easily I, personally, could have used this outrageous law last year to fire upon my bully neighbor AND with good reason. But who does this??? I have a gun, it was within my rights, however, my gun stays in my house at all time despite the fact I have a hidden weapons permit.
When I walk the streets at night I'm armed with pepper spray, stun guns, knife, and most importantly a phone. My dogs have been attacked by a pack of dogs and by individual pitbulls, I only found it necessary once to use the pepper spray and it worked quickly, immediately. Other times a quick call to the local authorities when things were out of whack took care of neighborhood disputes.
I have lived in some pretty rough areas, this not being one of them by any stretch, and never has it occurred to me that 7pm was the time of night to draw a gun on someone while on the phone to them police who were already dispatched.
This is law is not needed as I am already protected by the right to discharge weapons within my home in defense of my property. There is already a self-defense law on the books and prior to this law homicides have increased considerably.
I'm all for the right to own weapons but the abuse of the right is just wrong in so many ways people, children are dying.
