I got PTSD in 2010. It was fast and brutal.... from a normal person I got 24/7 anxiety , startle responses, social anxiety, not sleeping more than 4 hours at night... hypervigilance... tension, pressure. And I isolated myself, moving to my mothers place.

"Living" 2.5 years this way... from the beginning I started to abuse benzodiazapines.... up to the point that I needed to take 30 pills to get relief . Suddenly a week ago, my startle response became 80% better. Out of the blue. I did not jump from braking dogs, or slamming doors. I have hard anxiety and tension, but I do not startle for the first time in 2.5 years. So I decided to stop using benzos,"cold turkey", (because the first time I felt that something became better) and it is the 5 day.

I am thinking, maybe, my PTSD did not get better because of the benzos, I dont know. But the fact that my startle response became better, while I am on constant withdrawals from benzos is strange.

So can I say I had a success? I do not know.

I wish you luck but have to say be careful going off of the pills. I am glad you are experiencing some success. I hope it lasts.
