They are not in any way challenging their diagnosis, just in denial of their symptoms, however familiar they are to others.
Sorry I'm not giving you enough information. They are refusing to go back to therapy and reluctant to discuss it.

That applies to anyone - not just PTSD sufferers....

I found that sometimes writing a note and leaving it (so I wasn't around at the time it was read) has worked but it's not something you can overuse or it loses it's impact. Writing it down makes it visual.

Wow ! That's not a bad idea, thank you. With the multitude of modern communications available the good old hand written note is inspirational. I love your caution not to be around when it's read I can just imagine dodging a flying dinner plate or two !
