Nope, horrible at it! I can focus in on one thing to the exclusion of all else though, like when I read, it takes a raised and irate or impatient voice to interrupt me, although the phone will break successfully through my attention, but that is about all.

I am a sound sleeper too. I sleep through thunder storms even, but again, the phone will wake me. I am not sure why this all is, because I can sleep through an alarm clock or wake just enough to turn it off and go right back to sleep again. But the phone? I'm up. That's it, no going back to sleep after a phone call.

This is so interesting to see how we each deal (or not) with multitasking. At present in the poll, it's about 50-50 for those who multitask well and those who don't. For me, self-initiated toggling between tasks is very easy and fulfilling (provided I remember what I had previously been doing); however, if it comes in from the outside (phone calls, personal interruptions) I'm nonfunctional.

I multi-task quite well. I'm a writer and I've got three stories developing and ongoing in my head at once right now. I'm furthering each one through playacting. I used to be poly-fragmented DID, and I playacted out my abuse in my head as an adult. It took me many years to figure out that it was my abuse that I playacted. When I was younger I did it with dolls and toys. I wonder if the brain is hardwired (with having had DID) in some way for life to be able to multi-task.

I do if I have to. If I'm at work, I can scan email, chat on IM, answer a question somebody is asking standing at my desk, and complete a document I'm working on all at the same time. Once I'm gone from work, though, sometimes I can't remember my own name.

I am a frustrated perfectionist, and have organized piles and drawers. I do not multi-task well right now because I am so stressed and have lost focus.

I used to be able to quite well.
