Hiya Everyone,

I was reading on Tumblr about some of the strange symptoms that people had with PTSD that they weren't expecting. I was wondering what strange symptoms you have.

For me I have awfully vivid nightmares that are not at all relevant to my trauma. I also became extremely afraid of the dark, even though my trauma happened during the day.I'm also almost always tense. Like my muscles are physically tight all the time and it takes effort to remember to relax them. Does anyone else have weird symptoms they weren't expecting?

I might have a trigger and not realize that is what it is, then hours later I get a flashback related to it. So it is a delayed response. Not sure if that is normal or not.

Nothing is normal about PTSD? My nightmares are actual events from my past life, going right back to my childhood? I hope things improve for you, good luck.

Dissociation is really weird, because so much stuff falls into that category. Sometimes I forget how the muscles in my face work. One time I couldn't remember how to chew food. I can block out all kinds of stuff and completely refuse to remember who someone is. I've stopped being surprised by the strange things our brains come up with to protect us.
