Switching From Risperdal To Abilify...

So, I saw my psychiatrist this morning. I'm switching from Risperdal (0.25 mg) to Abilify (2 mg) because I complained about the weight gain (like 20-30 lbs! :( ) and the lack of energy on the Risperdal. She told me that the Abilify still cause some weight gain, but it's not as severe as the weight gained from Risperdal....and I heard that Abilify can also help you be more alert.

Any input or thoughts on this? Any similar experiences? :)

It's funny the doctor must all use the same book. I started with risperdal. Then abilify. It work ok for me it intefered with my mood stabilizer after a while so I went on to the next one. The abilify made my thinking really clear. I was able to manage my thoughts. Good for you that you followed through. If I remember correctly the abilify works pretty quick. Good luck if it doesn't work there are more. Keep moving forward.
