Listening to "thump, thump, thump" on the couch made me think of a great thread.

What is the funniest thing your pet does that makes you laugh the most or has done that you still today laugh about it?

My dog wags his tail in his sleep! Only dog Ive ever seen do that. He is one of the most active sleepers I have seen, aside from the "get up and run into the wall while asleep" dog that went virial. He hasnt quite gone that far but he isnt far behind that.

He is quite vocal in his sleep too.

Oh god, I have to post this. He snores louder than a grown man and wakes me up most nights, he snores and blows his lips like a full on cartoon character snore! Seriously! Its the funninest shit that I will laugh at him for hours!

So lets hear those tales of tails! What is the funniest thing your furry pal does or has done that you're still talking about?

My girl could talk .. Seriously! she went everywhere with us and she particularly loved visiting with my mum and step dad and their doggy as we would all go for long walks and days out together. We would say to her 'are we going to see Nana' , she would tilt her head (sooooo cute) and she would get all giddy and excited and start making this growly howling noise and move her jaw and it always sounded like 'Nana' ( more Naaaannnnaaa !) she would go on until we got to the car - it was so funny - then when we arrived we would say 'where's Nana' and she would do it again. She did so many funny things.
Sadly she passed away a month ago, she had a wonderful long happy life and she certainly enriched ours.
Great thread @lostforgottensoul as it cant help but make you go all warm and smile :)

Sadly she passed away a month ago, she had a wonderful long happy life and she certainly enriched ours.

Aww, so sorry to hear she passed but it sounds like she had a ton of love and gave it back 10 fold as dogs do.

My dad & step mom call themselves grandma & grandpa to my 2 cats & my dog. "Wait for grandma" (wait being my dog's command like heel. I just didnt like heel). Anyway, I always thought it was cute. They are my kids; furkids. I dont & cant have children so they are my kids. And my dog is like a 2 year old that never grows up most times lol. He's a good boy though.

Ive seen dogs do that. Like say "momma". My dog does this whine that makes it sound someone is strangling him, added with mouth movments, it really sounds like someone is hurting him. He did it when left alone and I had the door open bringing in groceries before I got him out of the crate and people were looking at me like someone is hurting him inside my house. It was so embarrasing lol.

My dog has the "beaten puppy" look down! He will have his head down and just moves his eyes up like "im cute, dont get mad at me". It makes it hard to send him to bed (my bed) when he does something wrong that he knows better than to do. I do like rewarding good rather than punish the bad but sometimes have no other option and man, he is good in getting himself out of it

What bread was she?

@lostforgottensoul , he sounds soooo cute and adorable. Does he get on well with the cats?
We have cats too and they all got on, my little black cat was my dogs best friend.
To answer your question. She was a german shepherd x labrador, she was black and looked like a german shepherd, she had the 'shepherd stare' but was such a softie and loved hugs and loved everyone. She was a rescue so if we ever decide to get another dog we will get a rescue again. My hearts too broken to think about that tho yet.
I love the 'snoring' comments lol :) what breed is your boy?

Sadly we had to surrender my baby when she was only 18 no old. But I loved her alot. If you look at my avatar that is her in her favorite position, sleeping on my shoulder. She had a phantom pregnancy and adopted my granddaughter as her puppy. She had the funniest cry when her parents put K in the car seat. It sounded like a bird call. They were stealing her puppy! She would crawl under the sheets at night and curl up as close as she could get to my stomach. I had never seen a dog who wanted to be under the sheets before.

At Christmas, when she was 1 we placed the box from M's gift in the hallway so it wasn't in the way. She cried and looked for a way around for an hour. She couldn't find a way out. Funny part was there was plenty of room either side.

he sounds soooo cute and adorable.

He is!

Does he get on well with the cats?

When I first got him at age 2, he thought cats were to be chased and played with. Poor cats!

But over a few weeks of real intense training, he not only stop chasing them (and they stopped spraying my house), he is now terrfied of them. They rule the house for sure! And they know it!

Cute! My therapist showed me a pic last thursday of his "GoldenDoodle" that's black and looks much like a Portigeze Water Dog.

German Shep is my favorite breed. Pitbull being my 2nd favorite (though no one tell my dog that lol). Pits has the best temperment I have ever seen. I miss the 1920s and 30s (i say that like I was alive back then) where Pits were the Labs of today and were recongized as the great family dog they really are. "Pete" in The Little Rascals was an American Pitbull Terrier.

Anyway, /tagent. Sorry.

Aww @Snafu! Im so sorry you lost her! She was gorgous! I remember commenting about her when I first got here. That "bird chirp" sound reminds me of my pitty. They have that chirp sound down lol.

It sounds like she gave you so much joy and all the love in the world and gave it back 10 fold!

Yeah @Snafu, so many are afraid of pits and I dont mind educating (which i have to do every place I take him) but its the ignorant people that scream "get that vicious breed out of here" that piss me off. Most especially since he is wagging his tail at you.

My apartment also has a breed restriction (no pits, germ sheps, rotties, or any dog that looks of a mix of the 3) but there are so many here that they would drain of the complex if they kick us all out so they look away as long as they are well behaved. Its the reason i havent moved, Florida has such a huge breed restriction that i would have to let him go and i cant do that.

@lostforgottensoul , he is a handsome dog and i love the pictures of the cats.
Pitbulls are banned in the uk. This was due to some attacks back in the 80s. It isnt the breed its the bad owners but sadly they became the dog of choice for criminals to use as weapons rather than a pet.
We watch the programme 'pitbulls and parolees' and we love them.
@Snafu , so sorry you lost your girl :(

We watch the programme 'pitbulls and parolees'

That is a wonderful show and Villalobos Rescue Center now in New Orleans is an even better rescue! If I had to let my dog go Id drive him all the way there.

Yeah, I heard that they were outlawed in the UK. Sad that an entire country cant enjoy this wonderful breed because of the bad people in the world!

He does suprise me with his bite force. He bit a long bone I bought him the size of my wrist in half with one bite. They are the only dog that has one long muscle on either side of their head from the top by their ears to the the bottom of their jaw. Other dog breeds have a few muscles.

He also almost pulls of your arms playing tug o war with him. But he is so very gentle with children. Im always hyper vengelent as he is very laid back but gets excited fast and i cant seem to get him to stop jumping so im always there making sure he doesnt accidently knock the kid over and god he is so good. The smaller the child the more gentle he is. He laid down for a 3 yr old and let him get on his back and got up and let the kid ride him like a horse.

They honestly are like Labs are today, they make the best family dog. And my guy makes a great apartment dog as he doesnt demand the amount of activity as one would think.

You should watch Champions on Netflix. It tells the story of some of Michael Vick's dogs and some now are therapy dogs. They bounce back so well. They just want to please you. Bad people doing bad things with very loyal dogs!

Hello, my name is Marmite, so named because I had a habit of stealing mom's marmite sandwiches at work when she was distracted during lunch. I may look like a cat, but I assure you, I'm not.

When I was about eight weeks old, my first adoptive parents didn't care to keep me safe and I ended up alone beside a very busy road one very cold Saturday. A kind man saw me and took me to a place where he knew I'd be taken care of. Apparently the humans there took care of the local feral cats, and he thought I was a cat. He left me there for the rest of the weekend, but fortunately someone had left food out for the weekend and I managed to find a safe place to hide. That Monday morning I met my mom, though she didn't know it just yet, and I became Master of the Universe.

Mom had two cats at home, both originally from this place Mom called the office. Because I was still young, obviously not a feral cat, and was scared, Mom took me home with her that night. Sadly I didn't get along with those cats, they scared me as much as the ones at the office, and Mom concluded that it'd be best to take me with her to work the next day rather than leave me locked up in a room all day on my own. I ended up accompanying her every day until she finally quit later that year. I spent my days roaming the offices, sometimes venturing outside, though never too far, and eventually started making friends with the felines. They weren't so bad once I got to know them, and most of the humans loved me, many dropping by just to spend a few minutes chilling with me. Yes, I became a bit of a celebrity. It must have been my amiable personality and good looks!

Mom was looking for a home for me, but when someone finally offered one I'd already stolen more than just her lunch, and she couldn't bear to part with me. In truth, I had caught her that first time I snuggled up in her jacket, just don't tell her I know it. I'd also kind of started bonding with the cats back home by then.

Now you may wonder when my story for this thread kicks in? Round about now, just thought some background might enhance the telling.

See, Mom worked in production, and sometimes tension ran a bit high. One day I was having a nap on Mom's lap when I heard loud voices coming from an office next door. Turns out a disagreement between two of the higher ups had turned into a full on screaming match. So, being Master of the Universe, I darted off Mom's lap, straight to the office next door, jumped onto the table and gave both men a good stare down, which quieted them. Then, I made myself comfortable on the nearest lap and demanded some attention for my efforts. They had interrupted my nap, after all. The meeting concluded in a much calmer fashion under my watchful eye.

One of the men happened to be Mom's boss, and he told her afterward that I'm excellent at making his boss more agreeable. After that he often came to "borrow" me when he had a meeting with that other guy.

Truth be told, I had a calming effect on the whole office, and often sought out those having a rough day to offer comfort. I know, I'm a special little guy.

@claroscuro, thanks for letting Marmite, oh I mean Master Of The Universe, share their story! Cute! An office cat! My calico, Codee, has that stare down effect to my pitbull whom is scared of her and my parent's chihuahua whom used to chase her until I convinced them to fix him and now he just shakes like he's having a seizure when she does it.

It's like a "I f*cking dare you" stare. And my orange & white long haired tabby is way more active and jumps on her to play and she screams (sounds like they are fighting but arent) and Coco, the chihuaha goes to "break them up" and like looks at both saying "ok you in your corner and you in yours" lol. Its funny.

Oh and he also barks at dogs on tv and runs into the other room behind the tv like its a window. And he knows songs for all of the commercials with dogs on them.

Its funny and annoying as my well trained dog learns bad behaviors from the yippy untrained dog. I tell my dad he needs to train him and he says "he's just a pet". ??? So is my dog and he's trained.

Codee was a 4 month old kitten being thrown against walls when I saved her. They didnt even know she was a she and named her "Cody". I changed the spelling. Preston, my long haired orange & white tabby, I bottle fed from day one. His mommy was sick. Chopper, my pit, grew up from a puppy in a home with 4 kids. They moved and couldnt take him. He wasnt at the shelter long.

Coco, my parent's dog come into their lives after their other dog passed. They werent planning to get a dog but he was at my step sister's house and not being cared for and curled up into my dad's lap. It was love at firsr sight.

So we have 3 adult humans, rescued 4 animals in an 850 sq ft apartment. Its a circus!
