Congratulations!
But ,(and i don't care people would say that i am a son of a......)
your healing, from what i understand has nothing to do with the disorder called PTSD
Ptsd have nothing to do with Discovery of your true self , Heightened self-awareness etc.
you are a person who overcome the result of trauma and hard life.
but it has nothing to do with PTSD
WHY ? because ptsd is : [DLMURL]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRv56gsqkzs&feature=related[/DLMURL].

i wish you well mate!
but people must understand that no psychologist , therapist, or strong will heal them from PTSD .
we must pressure and force the medical and the scientific community to find a real solution for this disorder , like they are doing with parkinson , aids, or Cancer.
ptsd should called psychoneorological injury , and not an anxiety disorder!.

and again i wish you the best my dear friend.
please do not judge me ,as a rude or bad or person , because i am not.

Congratulations!

Thanks ikop,

I never said I had been cured from PTSD.
However, until PTSD is cured, I will celebrate overcoming the results of trauma and a hard life as a major victory.

Thank you Dog Lover,

Although the successes I mentioned in the original post, may or may not have anything to do with PTSD.....

......ALL of my PTSD symptoms have decreased in intensity, severity, and frequency!!!! (This includes hyperarousal, avoidance, and re-experiencing etc.)

It takes time, courage, and determination, but healing from PTSD is possible!!! :)

Actually I think PTSD can be cured... just that it seamlessly slips into the journey we might call self enlightenment, spirituality, self improvement etc, etc. Lots of people struggle with life and have lots to learn on their path even without PTSD. When the past stops dictating and intruding and rippling through the present then you are on an even footing with the rest of the population. Some of us choose to follow their path, others aren't interested in the journey. But you keep growing and developing as long as you live. The journey is never finished.

Don't forget to look where you have come from because it's too easy to focus on the path ahead.

Well done Lionheart, you have done amazingly and well on your way to catching the infectious disease called "ordinary life". Good for you XX

(((Lionheart))) I am so happy for you, you deserve to be where you are now. Long may it continue.

I am in a similar place, I am managing my symptoms and feel my life has moved on and for the better. I actually believe that PTSD has made me a stronger person, I am comfortable being me, I am kinder to myself and no longer beat myself up over my limitations.

Without PTSD I wouldn't have met so many wonderful, brave people. Friends like you. My life feels richer because of you and other members.

Lionheart fab to read this, you deserve all these things and much more because you have worked hard to get where you are now. The journey of a thousand miles starts with one small step you have done fabulous, posts like this show us all there is hope. As they say you get out of therapy what you put in.

Keep up the great work and enjoy your achievements they are well deserved.

WAY TO GO LIONHEART!

I'm sorry this is so late but I totally understand what you have shared. Having PTSD, like Helipig said, often brings up those pains from the past, our insecurities, fears etc. We seek healing for the PTSD and find healing for the other stuff as well. Some folk don't ever change and that is sad but we here seek to make progress, one step at a time and to shake off the shackles that bind us.

I for one am grateful for the things you have shared and the advice you have given. I joined this forum at a time when I felt hopeless and thought I would die. You were one of those whose words comforted and encouraged me to keep going.

Can we be healed from PTSD? Just like surgery healing takes place but we always bear the scars. Those here, like yourself LH, have made wonderful progress and I am so proud of you! I am not ashamed of my scars - I wear them with pride.

Congrats to you my friend, you deserve to feel good about yourself...well done!
