When I wake from nightmares, I tend to only remember the scenario that woke me. Its usually the moment I realise the horror of the situation - Last night a man saying with a smile that he had to kill me anyway, and was crushing my chest. It was the moment I couldn't breathe and realised he was killing me, that I woke up.
I'm quite good at calming myself quickly in the initial panic as I wake. But then the subject of the nightmare effects me for a long while afterwards.
So today, I'm jumpy as heck. I saw a picture of a random man, and felt my anxiety and a whole host of emotions rise. And its taken me about 45 minutes to write this short thread, because I keep getting stuck in the recollection of the nightmare and come to a stop.
So I'm not quite sure how to deal with the after effects. So I'm wondering what others do.
