The Weather Forecast Has Ptsd!

Living in the Midwest, the only thing certain about the weather here is that it will change. The past few days there have been numerous reports on winter storm Linus. Well the first clue of this disorder is in the fact that winter storms are now named like hurricanes. Hmm...a little hypervigalence here? :cautious:

Now lets get into the issues of flashbacks. With the impending storm, there are numerous video feeds to past blizzards, ice storms and every other winter anomaly that has occurred in the past one hundred years. Could Linus be another repeat of the blizzard of 78?:confused:

Now lets get to the catastrophizing. Initially 3-5 inches and now 4-11 inches, OMG where does it go from here!!! :eek:

Woke up this morning to a little dusting of snow. :O_o: Now of course over the next several hours that could change and maybe there will be a couple of inches, but the reality here is you really don't know what the weather will be until you walk outside. ;)

Ummm.......maybe I should engage my flight response and head to Florida???:D

When I think of Linus, I think of a kid dragging a fuzzy warm blanket. Maybe the weather forecast is regressing...

Funny! I can't help but agree. We are north of the worst of this storm but I know exactly what you mean. I used to work in a grocery store in the small rural town where I grew up and a storm forecast meant good business and extra hours.

This humor was one of the things that got me to laugh today!

Here in Croatia storms are an usual thing and houses have a much more durable build than in America, so we are quite used to strong storms and cold temperatures... and I with my cold resistant bloodline suffer till the middle of winter, it's so warm. 2°C is warm for me :p

I can totally relate. Weather and football are the main small talk conversations here.

I like storms. It gives me a reason to lay low, drink coffee, cuddle in a blanket. We have 7 inches and still climbing.

Funny how we can make fun of PTSD and not get upset but if anyone else uses PTSD to describe anything (and I do mean *anything*) that isn't PTSD, we all go up in arms. I could make an analogy to that one, but it would offend a lot of people!

It is blazing hot here where I live. It was rain yesterday and cold. The weather cannot seem to make up its mind as to what it will do each day. This was so funny.

I've noticed changes in the weather reporting too... down here even if there is a 10-20% chance of rain, they say it's going to rain. Drives us crazy.

Naming winter storms like hurricanes... and calling "winter" a "Polar Vortex" and such. Anything to grab some attention, I guess. They must really think people are stupid to a bovine degree if they have to sensationalize it I think. Good grief.

People get really scared about things that are high consequence, but really low risk. I think it is quite abusive in some ways. They are just selling space for their advertisers, they have no right to mess with people's heads, and cause such distress. It really has things right out of perspective and proportion.
