Therapists clinging to remote work post Covid

I can't see where you wrote the quote that @No More quoted where you asked us if we talk about our trauma on a zoom call.

But yes.
I have spoken about all the trauma. The details. The fear. Everything I can get words out about. I don't think I would have more or less words to come out if that was in person.

I feel total connection with my T. And safety. To be able to do that.

Edit to say: ah I missed that post where you ask us @GammaRay.

I wonder whether it's different tho, to first build a strong rapport with a T in "in person" sessions... and then shift to online cos of the pandemic...

As opposed to never ever having a single "real" session at all... Always knowing your T only as a face on a screen...? Because online is all they offer?

I wonder if it's also different if it's your first therapist...

If you've had years of building a good rapport to a therapist/ to therapists generally, I think moving to online could feel doable.

If it's your first time of really doing trauma therapy, first time of opening up about all of your worst-of-the-worst... I wonder whether doing all that online, without years of offline/ in person therapy to fall back on... whether that's not weird...?

I am face to face ONLY, due to privacy concerns ...
Do you have reasonable cause to be concerned about privacy with remote therapy? I'd never be fully comfortable with that data being created or existing for a moment in time even if Zoom and whoever else claims it's secure. But I mean have you heard anything or learned anything that makes you extra wary?

I only had about 8 sessions with my T before the pandemic caused the lockdowns.
and this was my first real attempt at therapy.
but also: I was open to online. I do a lot of work online so it’s a natural space. And I was of the view point I would much rather have online than nothing during the pandemic and then since: I just love my T and don’t want another.

I think it’s down to mindset and preference.

Maybe some here who don't mind remote therapy are more personally partial to their therapists than most. So when they say they prefer remote, they mean they prefer remote because that's what their therapist, whom they really like and feel attached to, offers. But given a choice with the same therapist, maybe they would choose in-person after all...?

My exhusbabd is 1:12, that I know of, with admin access to the entire mobile network of the Us, AUS, & Portugal. So? Yea. As long as I'm in any of those 3 counties.

Yeah, I would.
but also, I am glad that after the really heavy sessions that have been horrendous emotionally, that with online I am safely in my home rather than navigating the city and the people and needing to hold it together to get home.
it has it’s pluses and it has it’s challenges.

Why does it seems like so many therapists are clinging to remote sessions with Covid now mostly a memory?

they haven't even lowered their prices

Anyway, I don't think we can compare out-of-office work for most people with out-of-office work for therapists.

I think we need to start sending them the message to get back in the office. Or at least lower their rates, but I wouldn't be satisfied with that even.

So in the interest of serving as many people as possible, they should offer some days in person and some days remote.

Actually, I am also located inside a large city. I suppose my local therapists are making money from people in underserved areas outside the city who don't have much of a choice but to accept remote therapy.
I suspect given the above statements that your problem isn’t finding a therapist you click with, who has the modalities you want and is not remote is NOT your problem. I suspect it’s your disdain for the profession.
