We are where we are now. I can understand the temptation of the "if only" thoughts, but they don't move us forward. I need to remind myself of this, because I regularly think " If only the doctor doing the procedure that brought my PTSD into the open had been unsympathetic.. If only my family had been more bracing… If only I had resisted the collapse more strongly"
Maybe, if I had found exactly the right Therapist years beforehand, if I had been able to persist, things wouldn't have been as they are. But the chances of either of those things would have been minimal.
But then if I had the power to change the past I 'd prefer to eliminate the need ever to have treatment, ever to have PTSD.
I'm here, now and that's what I need to deal with.
