This Forum Will Be Closing

I would rather my diary was archived here and my account closed. I don't want to be transferred over to my PTSD I just don't know how to stop that from happening??
Please don't make any hasty decisions yet, with regards to not coming over to MyPTSDforum. Your diary will be on that site, because this site will be gone, and you will have access to view it, which might be of some benefit to you. It's also possible on MyPTSD forum to have private conversations with a whole group of people, so we can keep in touch that way, which would be great.

I'm not going to make any commitments at this point

Please allow anthony to sort out the finer details, before you make any decisions.

I think I do need to clarify at this point, that the closing of this site was anthony's decision, and completely out of my hands.

Whilst I understand many of you felt more comfortable posting here, because member numbers were small, that fact alone makes it very difficult to run successfully. Owning/ running a forum isn't cheap, especially to keep up with all the upgrades required as technology improves/ changes. There are huge numbers of members on MyPTSD who have PTSD from sexual abuse /assault, yet never joined this forum. I don't have any answers as to why - it's just the way it is.

Also if the forum had been more successful, then member numbers would have increased over time, then all your posts in the 'members only' sections would have become visible to more and more people anyway. When I wrote my first post in my diary, 'members only', I was probably writing to an audience of 10 maybe 20 people, now 825 people can view it. If the forum had continued to grow, then it could have potentially become 'visible' to thousands of people. But realistically, who would be interested enough to read a diary post from 4 years ago? We certainly don't have 825 active members, so who are all these people who can read our posts? And does it really matter? I'm not trying to be flippant, I can be the most paranoid person around. But we post stuff on the internet to get support, and it works, and it helps us. There's a limit to how 'safe' anything can be that we post online. With more people on MyPTSD, the support and help from differing view point could be amazing, and a great help to our healing. All I'm saying is don't say 'no', until you've had a look and given it a go.

I understand that people don't like change, especially when it comes to such an emotive subject, that we have all endured and talked about, but change will happen, not just now, but in the future too. None of us can control that.

I'm personally very upset that the forum is closing too, having spent several years trying to make it work. I feel personally responsible, although I know that whether people join /don't join, post/ don't post is out of my hands.

However, the decision has been made, and I think we all need to just wait and see how it turns out.

I'm a global moderator on MyPTSD so will still be around, and paying particular interest in the sexual abuse section to continue to help survivors any way I can, and continue to get support for myself.

Please know that I am technically challenged and don't keep up with the latest of all the forum. My question is this, my diary here will move to PTSD forum and will be for my private eyes only? If that is the case, no big. I understand the emotional upheaval some feel about the two sites being united, however you might give it a go. Change is always hard!
I don't love that what I posted here will now be merged, but I agree that Anthony has to make those calls and do what is best universally. ;)

My understanding is that diaries are currently 'members only' here, and will be moved to the diary 'members only' section of MyPtsd forum.

However, that is just my current understanding of the situation, and no doubt anthony will inform you whether that is correct or not.

It is, though you gave this site an irrevocable and exclusive license to do as we wish with the content here. You retain copyright of the content you posted here, even after merging it there, because you owned that copyright before it was shared to that site. Saying that, that does not change the fact you have given exclusive and irrevocable rights to us to do as we wish with your content.

I have never betrayed the trust of members for their privacy, and I won't start now. The content will retain the same privacy rights for what gets used there, and the rest will get archived with the same privacy rights as it has here. I'm not going to make any commitments at this point, and will wait until I get the content imported to the other site first. I will make such announcements there.

I'm not going to get into arguments though with anyone here about what IS going to happen. All privacy will be respected, it's as simple as that.
