I am considering moving to another country. Ecuador. Looking into it and will decide within the year. If I do decide to go, I will keep everyone appraised of the move if you guys like. It looks on the surface to be good. rent 2-500 per month. 1 kilo of tomatoes for $1.00 it could be good....

Jar said "This ain't the country I grew up in...................anymore." That Brother is the truth!!! I look at my daughter (she's 25) Whats the next 10 to 20 years going to be like? I am concerned and sad for the children of today.....However they have no idea what we had when we young kids.

The inertnet has had a big impact on the young kids. The porn is all over the net and young kids are looking at this shit. Was on the news a few months ago, that two (boy & girl) in the second grade were having oral sex (69) in the back of the class room.......What's done about it? The teacher gets fired, hell the teacher didn't know it was even going on ......It makes me sick that the young kids see all this shit and think it's real. My daughter tells me that a lot of young men think that a woman is just for sex, like they see on the net!!!

I am sorry, but I think we are past the point of no return!!!

Eh. I suspect people have been saying "Kids these days" since forever. Pliny (the elder?) did. Chaucer did. Shakespeare did. Twain did.

My grandfather sure did ((WWII infantry, Korea, Surgeon... Used to gripe almost constantly that kids these days have no spunk! Why, in his day, you didn't shut off your light at Halloween. If you didn't hand out candy, you got a trick played on ya. And none of this namby pamby nonsense. We'd move the outhouse! Try falling into a big hole of excrement at 3am! Can't get out on your own, that's for damn straight. That'll teach ya. Bunch of rule following wimps, kids these days. Backbone! Or heart! Grow one or the other! Get hurt. Screw up. Learn to fix it. No damn spunk.)). :ROFLMAO::sneaky:(y) always loved that old man.

My sister has one of my favorite smoking lines from all time. Any time someone mentions the dangers of smoking (like she doesn't know)... She gasps! Looks horrified. Like this is completely news to her. Then shakes her head in denial.

"No. No. They would never sell anything dangerous in this country. Or bad for you! I mean, what's next? Next thing you know they'll start selling stuff that's addictive!" Then she puts her normal face back on, winks, takes a drag, "Beer after work? Kay. See you at 7. I have to pick up some coffee on my way."

I've seen her pull this stunt dozens of times, and it cracks me up each time.
Most people get they were treating her like a moron.
But the hilarious ones are the ones who take her seriously for the first part, and don't clue in at all for the second.

As an Australian... Australians in general have pretty much always been dumbfounded with the US mentality of sue someone for their issues. Our legal system doesn't really allow it here. Sure, you can try it... but it costs you money and will get shut down 99.9% of the time when viewed by a magistrate on whether it continues or not. Frivolous lawsuits don't help the country, business, or society's attitude in general.

Anthony we have needed tort reform in this country for a long time. Some blame the lawyers. But in essence it's the politicians (isn't it always?). But really, like you said the judges need to be held responsible. They are the ones allowing these lawsuits to happen. The have the power to shut them down.

I still understand the suit. The tobacco companies are scum. But more of me doesn't agree with it. I'm on the fence I guess.

I still like my country. No plans to move yet. But it isn't the same one I grew up in. I'd like to keep an open mind and think we are progressing, but so far I'm just not seeing it.

The sense of entitlement is rampant. Everyone feels they deserve a handout. Too many people see someone getting something for nothing they feel they're entitled to something. It cascades. That's where we're at. Or least just one of our problems. And the government just keeps creating more special interest programs.

Hmm, maybe you got a room over your garage I could rent??

People here, I think, look at frivolous lawsuits as a way to 'get rich quick' and not have to work. It's pretty sad really and bogs down the already over burdened court system as it is.

As far as the kid's stuff goes, I agree that every generation says the same sort of stuff. Part of it is just what happens as you get older and see it differently and part is the changes that a constantly evolving society brings as well. It's a tricky dance to keep what's good and worked well in past times and integrate it into our society today that's moving at warp speed. Guess you just hope you've instilled your kids with the 'right stuff' so that they make some good decisions in their own lives.

On a slight tangent of responsibility. I believe i ncommunity spirit.
Of helping closeby.
A give-away group has a woman who asked for babystuff. Several people offer her but she can pick it up after she comes back from holiday (written on her mobile phone).
This pisses me off beyond belif.

If you can afford a holiday you don't need to ask a donation for babystuff, clothes, food or whatever.
anyone smoking, drinking, going on holiday might need to learn to take care of themselves.

My comments are not going down to well and apparently I'm the devil herself for talking to an expectant woman like that. Newsflash lady. You're on holiday with money you could have used in a second hand shop to dress your own baby.
Do not expect any sympathy from me if you decide to blow it on other stuff.

Back to topic, this is also about taking responsibility for your own life, your own family.

Here is the issue with this particular topic --> "This is what's wrong with the U.s."

Whether you are a Combat Veteran (danced with the Devil), A Theater Veteran (U made it to country but never Outside the Wire - OTW), or a garrison Veteran that never saw Theater or Combat. The point of what we all chose to do was to ensure that the idea of 'FREEDOM' exists. Do you truly think that freedom has boundaries or limits or guidelines? The reality is exactly what the word implies.
A Combat Veteran fights and dies to ensure beyond all possible truth that the civilian populace is oblivious. A civilian will live and die never knowing what it is that we had to endure, face, acknowledge, or do. Why??? THAT IS WHAT A COMBAT VETERAN DOES!

We go to the backyard of the ASSHOLE that thought he could bother us in our little world and knock on his door. When they answer we say 'Hello,' and then we let them know that if they believe we will cower like the French, Spanish, Germans, etc... They are wrong!!!!!!
An American Combat Veteran Creates the world that we cannot live in, and in the end we must learn to live there. Ironic? Yes, because we cannot live in the place that makes us a Combat Veteran either.

Adjust Fire or Take a knee. Your choice?
