Is this what he said? Or is this what it feels like because you hoped and assumed no one that knew you offline would be able to identify you here, and it's a real blow to find out that this is not the case, and you feel violated,, so therefore he must be a creep...?He doesn't just find it interesting or to relate. He just finds a sick pleasure in knowing everyone else's "dirty laundry".
If someone in my life offline was able to identify me here, and was following what I posted, I would feel embarrassed... and I would seriously look at what identifying information I am using, where I'm logging in, and re-think if I should be posting what I am posting on the internet.
Even emails are not actually a private form of communication, it is too common for people to write and post online all kinds of things without really accepting just how public it is ... but I digress...
Read what we all agree to. It's my understanding that we don't even own what we write here on the site. The forum isn't just for supporters and suffers - it's on google, for anyone, it's also a public site. There are way more "guests" and even robots who are on the site than members who are supporters and sufferers. He and anyone else can read your stuff for fun or any other reason. That's a risk you take. It sucks that yes, there are creeps on the internet, but it's kind of just reality. This site is to help others with PTSD or for supporters of PTSD. NOT for people just to creep on blogs for fun to know everyone's business.
Do you still have the vlog on youtube that you posted about here on myPTSD? When I looked up your vlog when you linked it here, I was kind of concerned about the risk you were taking on in making your name so publicly associated with your face and picture and a battle with a major mental illness.
Putting your picture and identifying information like what you look like online when posting about a mental illness can naturally lead to people identifying who you are, and out of curiosity, reading more. That's normal human behavior. If I had a friend with a major mental illness and I knew they were posting online, honestly, I might read their blog, if it was PUBLIC, as everything posted here is. I already read blogs and forums for fun and distraction on a regular basis. I read the publically posted blogs of friends on a regular basis. I don't do it to stalk them.
I agree with others that you should change your pictures, avatars, use a different user name for different sites, and consider the risks you are taking when posting online. You are super easy to find out a lot of very personal information about.
People may not even be googling YOU but googling PTSD and finding you and linking your battling with PTSD to who you are offline.
I hope you can ignore the jerks and creeps, and focus on the people who do support you and the benefit you gain from being here.
