My dad is in the same generation, though he doesnt want people to be hurt, but does talk a lot about being against LGBT rights (and really LGBT anything) Im for LGBT rights and he lives with me so its a common themed fight.

Hitler was happy joining the NSDAP and for a period was close friends with an overtly and ostentatiously gay senior founding member Ernst Röhm and certainly up until 1934, Hitler seemed happy to have Röhm's overtly gay SA as the party thugs.

There are other hints that Hitler may have explored that side of himself, including an oblique reference to young men's hostels in Vienna being hot beds of homosexuality - and Hitler having been a long time resident in those hostels.

After the night of the long knives, the NSDAP enacted / decreed anti gay restrictions, and undoubtedly did kill some people who were gay. However, it is still difficult to discern how whole hearted Hitler the party were about being anti gay - and how much of it was window dressing for a more conservative German population, and a symbolic break with Röhm and the liquidation of his SA.
