Any tips for staying stable when destabilization comes a knocking at your door?

I’m coming off a medication and I’m at risk for destabilizing.

Thanks!

Journaling really helps a lot. When I write by hand, something happens that does not happen when I use my computer to write. Also, one can journal anywhere, because it is not easy sometimes to whip out one's gadget and write with it, whereas writing with pen and ink or even pencil does more for me. I think it clarifies my thoughts for me more.

That’s interesting. Writing by hand slows down my thinking process, and just the opposite- I type very fast-typing seems to get things down the way I intend to say them and quickly. . Interesting.

For me using language is extremely powerful and grounding. Whenever you feel the urge, say it out loud alone (-;
Like I am feeling of de-stabilizing and try to focus on relaxing your body, limbs, lungs, liver, heart etc....breathe.
Or if a person close to you mention it, do the same.

The more I think (could be wrong) you acknowledge with words and targeted action, the more you become aware even deeper level than now. You may even feel it much longer than you have now.

good luck.

I reach out to my reiki/Shaman. I texted her an hour ago because I am falling apart and she can see me in a bit. It really grounds me. I’m not improved enough to soothe myself, but taking action always brings me back into my body. I hope you feel better soon.

I make sure that I am meeting my needs. Food, water, shelter, and sleep are things you have to have to keep from destabilizing further. After that is showers and something that I enjoy that I have to leave the house for.

Sounds counter intuitive but I get out of the house. Go for a walk in nature. Sometimes it's better to go where people are as it forces me to keep *my act together*. Making a *short* list of things to do that day 3 or 4 things. As complicated or easy as is applicable.....fix a healthy meal, pay bills or shower & get dressed & take meds. Posting on sites like this where people have 'been there, done that' is valuable too.
Take care of yourself.

Writing by hand has beneficial neurological effects, it helps memory, language, healing and creativity. My youngest daughter is a writer and I encouraged her to start handwriting rather than using her laptop ... she noticed a difference and came back after a few weeks and thanked me.

Because it is "slower" to handwrite, I think it must also have beneficial effect to sooth the hyper-aroused state our neurological system gets into under stress. Probably in a similar way as meditation.

All I can suggest is work out your weak point with destabilisation and work in with that. Mine is to freeze, like I literally freeze into an immovable lump where I end up getting muscular aches and cramps, so my challenge is to mindfully keep moving (which is way easier said than done).

@Spacefish - That’s interesting-I type superfast and stuff just pours out of my brain. My hand cramps and I get super frustrated writing by hand. For me, typing reduces stress.... journaling increases it. Lol

Wilbur I know what you mean totally, I'm also the same. My typing probably isn't as fast as yours, but I find hand writing very difficult in terms of thought processes and keeping up. But I wonder if that is also part of it. When I go back over and read what I have written, there is a much greater sense of meaning and congruity than the words created by type, more essence and meaning. For me, it is like the words on type are one (or more) steps removed from my "self" ... a layer of objectivity or separateness has crept in and I don't think that is a good thing for me.
