Ive had an incredibly hard time either getting to sleep or staying asleep. Does anyone else have similar issues after their expedition? I dont dream anymore and when I sleep it feels like i only slept a few minutes. Maybe Im not alone in this?

I have both insomnia and hypersomnia, so I can totally relate to not being able to get to sleep and stay asleep, but I also sleep too much. I believe one is caused by PTSD while the other is caused by Depression and Chronic fatigue syndrome.

I have begun to take 60 mg Celexa (antidepressant) and 5 mg Prazosin (anti-nightmare med) at bedtime and found this helps me to get to sleep and to have a better quality of sleep.

Staying asleep is still a problem, as I awake often throughout the night after only an hour or so, but thanks to the Prazosin, I have a dreamless sleep most of the time.

I hope you find something to help you sleep. I find it to be important to my overall health and my emotional stability to sleep well and to feel rested and medication is the only thing that has helped...at least for me.

Once along time ago I had insomnia for three months. I was not on any medication at the time. Now I am on Trazedone and it works really well.

I hope you find something to help you sleep. It is really important that you get sleep and I do not need to tell you that.

I empathize with your plight. I wish you the best in this situation.

I have the same problem...I sleep for 6-7 hours and feel like I didn't sleep at all. I also have an extremely hard time falling asleep. I haven't had a memorable dream in a long time and seem to feel like I'm in a daze most of the time.

I usually wake up around 4 hours into the night (because I need to go potty) and then I cannot go back to sleep, sometimes for an hour or so. So! I figured I'd come here. I have a dentist appointment in the morning, so I am a bit nervous, even though it is only for a cleaning and check-up. The nervousness has to do with what will be discovered AND HOW MUCH IT WILL COST. I have not been to the dentist in something like 2 yrs.

The other issue now is that I have a PTSD Service Dog and she is to calm me among other things, but really, she cannot sit in my lap as she usually does to calm me while the dentist is at work (the exact time I need to be calmed down). She'll be in her stroller, over in the corner, but I hope she'll be willing to stay in it like she usually does and she won't get worried about me and try to "come to my rescue" should I react in any way to being dentilized (new word there, just couldn't think of an appropriate word to express my thought).

I've had insomnia for a really long time and I wake up at the slightest sound until they put me on ambient. I bout stuff, went for walks and did all sorts things that I have no memory of.

It wasn't pretty.

I was also put on a slew of other drugs, eventually the honeymoon period wore off and I'm back to 5 hours of sleep a night.

I see my acupuncturist once a week and eat a heavy protein diet that day and sleep almost 8/9 hours. But I have very vivid dreams.

I didn't have them for years now every time I close my eyes my brain wants to work something out.

Sending you energy to heal.
