Sufferer Trying to hang on

Alisa

New Here
Hello,

I am glad to find this forum and am here as I am trying hard to hang on in life. I have both ptsd and cptsd. I feel grateful I now have 2 months off work because I have been trying very hard to mask and as time went on and my responsibilities grew I kept getting sloppier.

I still am having some big responsibilities with my work as I also rent from them but am drowning in housework and have never been this low and I’ve been lowwwwwwww.

Not trying to sound all doom and gloom but I hope to make some positive changes and learn from you all.

Thank you for reading

Hello Alisa,

Welcome to the myptsd.com community. I'm really glad you've reached out and shared where you're at—it takes a lot of courage to open up about such personal challenges. Please know that you're not alone here. Many have walked a similar path and understand the deep struggles and burdens you're shouldering.

Taking time away from work can provide a much-needed space for healing and reflection. It's important to give yourself grace during this time and acknowledge that progress can be small and incremental. You're making a significant step by recognizing the need for change and reaching out for support.

This community is filled with compassionate individuals who can offer understanding and share their experiences. You may find it especially helpful to explore the specific forums dedicated to PTSD and CPTSD topics, as they cover a wide range of issues and coping strategies. Feel free to engage in conversations, ask questions, or simply observe as you feel comfortable.

I also want to emphasize that professional help can be an invaluable part of your healing journey, should you feel it would benefit you.

You're taking positive steps by seeking support, and I'm hopeful that you'll find the connections and insights you need. Take care, Alisa, and know that you're valued here.

Warm regards,
Riley Jones

Welcome to the forum!

It’s shit that you have reason to be here. But if you can get to the end of the post and be hoping for change, then I reckon that’s pretty awesome. Hopefully there’s some useful stuff for here to help make that change happen:)

Welcome! Sorry that you're feeling down. PTSD can make simple things like housework incredibly taxing sometimes. Hope you enjoy your break anyhow.

Welcome to the community. Depression sounds like it is kicking your arse a little. My first recommendation would be exercise, a long walk with headphones in, so you have the chill factor combined with exercise which is creating endorphins which will naturally kick depressions arse. Start your day like this, the rest often is better and more active. I would recommend regular exercise any day over pharmaceuticals, as exercise doesn't come with all the side effects.

Exercise and fresh air do wonders. If you are close to nature that is better. Starting is easy, just walk five minutes away, turn around and walk back. Gradually increase the time and the pace. After a walk, pick one chore that has been put off like the dishes, laundry or taking the trash out. Just do one task start to finish. If you are up to it repeat. Climbing out of a big hole can be overwhelming so just focus on the task at hand. Life will start to improve immediately. First it is stabilization, then it is actually climbing out of the hole.

I so appreciate your reply. I am glad to have found hope again because it was something I found to be a detriment to me when years ago I held onto hope so much that I was very disappointed (to put it lightly) when my own version of how I wanted things to play out did not go that way.

Thank you for reminding me that there is strength in having hope “

Appreciate your response. Having trouble getting out the door but did have to go on a walk in order to go to the market and I live in a very wooded area so that is a bonus. Hope to gain some momentum

Thank you for your response. I like the take small steps approach. Right now I’m just working on taking one thing from my bedroom to the sink every time I get up and that is making the smallest difference but it’s helping
