1. Flashbacks/Nightmares just before waking...feel like I'm stuck in the trauma time, emotionally or physically, for about a week. More jacked up. More energy in the day.

2. Sleep is uneventful. No nightmares. But feel really tired after being awake for about 10 hours. Just feel tired all the time. Difficulty focusing/concentrating/thinking all day.

I'm in 2. mode right now.

I seem to have more of 2. if I get exercise and sunshine. I get more nightmares in the cold, winter months with little sunlight and outdoor time.

Anyone care to comment?

Does being out in the sunlight alter your sleep pattern and reduce nightmares and wakeful sleep patterns?

It depends. I have events that trigger me outside of the home and although I love being outside in the sunshine, I find I can only do a bit of it before the senses get overwhelmed. That, in turn, will have me drop into nightmare (or very vivid unnerving dreams). So I can't necessarily say that I am so cut and dry in my analysis of sleep/wake patterns. If I were to respond with a list it would be.
1. Overwhelmed during the day (or prior days) then nightmares until finished processing
2. Calm day with no major triggers (which is usually but not always inside), restful sleep.
3. A run of a few calm days usually brings about really vivid inspiring dreams.
