Gramaherc...I'm so glad that you and your daughter are communicating and finding a way to rebuild your relationship. Great stuff, hon!

Hugs
Lisa

I thank all of you for the kind words and support through this, probably the best time ever of my life, except maybe when she was born.

Our morning breakfast chats continue with great success and something we BOTH look forward to every day.

I have another update that is probably one of the most precious gifts I've ever received.

First of all to explain, I've managed to get my days and nights mixed up and have missed the last 2 days of "Breakfast with Rachael".

So, today while I ran a small errand, my daughter called and spoke to my mother. Seems my daughter was "very concerned" about me. Was I OK! After all, she had not heard from me in "2" days. "2" whole days and now She is worried! I love this what a gift to me. I worried for 12 years about her and now after 2 days she is concerned. This is just to big a success for me to handle, NOT!.

In fact, I am having difficulty getting this huge smile off my face. People are beginning to wonder what is with me and this intense smile.

A true success story if there ever was one and a good example of why all of us should NEVER GIVE UP!

Yes and Yes again. JMO, I think the love was always there deep and good but like a river running under ground because of the stuff. When you daughter matured enough herself to try to understand, that love just bubbled up like a natural spring. What a wonderful blessing and gift.  :Hug_emoticon:

While I realize that this thread is not PTSD related it is still a success story in my book. Things are going so fantastic that I just have to share with those of you on the forum that have been here for me.

This afternoon I got to see my grand baby via web cam on my computer. To be able to watch her have her snack and interact with her mother is the best gift I have ever received. Sometimes I am just stunned and speechless when I think about how my daughter has come back into
my life. I still don't believe what has happened. She asked Santa Claus for the web cam for the simple and sole purpose of being able to let me watch the baby.

The change in my daughter over the past few weeks is a miracle. I wish those of you reading this could have the same warm feeling of acceptance, forgiveness, love
and belonging that I feel tonight. It has been a very long time since I have had this feeling----if ever.

Dear Grama-Herc,

-And you o-so-deserve it!!

Happy, healthy, joyful, peaceful '2009' to you & your family.

Love Meg

Well, even though I am one of the most computer iliterate people you will ever run into, I was able to install my new webcam and this morning had "Breakfast with Rachael"! I am speechless and that is saying something for me as I ALWAYS have something to say! LOL

We laughed and talked and the baby gigled and waved and I am still in awe of the technology itself. But I did it. I----ME---dumb arse did it. I can now watch my daughter and her child. OMG! ! MY DAUGHTER! ! I still have trouble sometimes realizing that she is back in my life and sharing with me.

I now have proof that my daughter is very willing to "bury the hatchet" so to speak. I have been soooooooooooooooooooo sick over the past week and yesterday I just could not get my sick body out of bed for "Breakfast with Rachael"!

I finally got to the computer about a hour late and tried to connect with her web cam, it said she was busy and might not answer. So I figured why not, try again and see what happens.

They were there! She waited for me. We did not get much time together, but OMG she waited for me. That is success.

So for those of you who have "lost" a relationship with your kid, I'm telling you to be patient. You will hear from them, on their terms, but you will hear from them.

I still can't believe any of this, but I am certainly grateful for every second of time she spends with me and that she is allowing me almost unlimited access to my granddaughter. Well, as unlimited as you can get over a computer with a 14 month old baby. LOL I just sit in amazement every time I see my 2 girls on the screen of my computer.
