Living with PTSD is learning that fear is at the root of making many unwise choices. It is not an excuse, nor does it absolve the making of unwise choices. It is necessary to be aware and sometimes I need it pointed out.
The political climate is rampant with trigger personalities for me. Even people without PTSD are finding themselves caught in the us against them that has the potential for tearing our country apart.
I see Republicans & Democrats who have garnered my respect. I am not a republican and while I have always registered Democrat I am going to change to independent.
It’s time to learn who the individuals are and vote accordingly.

I didn’t think I’d come back so soon but GEEZE!

I have no judgments just an observation.

Mueller was able to keep a lid on things because over the years as he built his reputation, he also developed relationships built on trust.
The Government is a network that is built on reputation. Even on lower levels, people don’t start to notice you for two or three years. They start to talk a little to you around five years. A long wait and that only happens if you work you ass off. Take pride in your appearance and always have a can do attitude.

Mueller not only knew people. The people he knew, knew people. No one involved with what Mueller was doing leaked because they knew what an honor is was to be asked. That is something that cannot be put on a resume but it’s there none the less.

Mueller has what takes invested time and integrity. Loyalty.

Things have taken an interesting turn.

I see that there is some discussion in the news about "merit-based" versus "chain" migration of refugees. For a few years, I volunteer taught English to refugees (and one illegal immigrant) from South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Mexico. I'm located in a Southern region of the US, in a refugee resettlement area. I became pretty close with some of these families and can answer questions about chain migration if anyone is interested.

I am so disappointed in Franken. The only honorable thing he can do now is resign. Which is a shame because I think he really cares about his constituents. He’s intelligent, articulate and asks the right questions.
That doesn’t change the fact that his actions were wrong.
If he cares, he has one decent choice, Accountability and all that goes with it.
Why spend tax payers money on an investigation?
The only way for Democrats to challenge Moore is if Franken resigns.
If the Dems successfully get Moore out of the running and the current sexual assault movement keeps going they have a chance at focusing on 45, the accusations and the Hollywood Access tape.
I am not talking as a 45 hater here.
I am talking about those with less power being assaulted by those with more.
This is a real chance to highlight this disease and show the world in the US everyone is accountable. This is a chance for the US to regain some respect & dignity so sorely depleted in the past year.

I agree, Alice. I've read some Dem pushback, but the photo really tells it. I really liked Al and voted for him, as he's senator in my state. But I really think he should resign. Sadly, I think it's the only honorable thing to do. The Senate has too much to do already without taking on another investigation. I think that would just be a waste of time. I hope Franken does the right thing.

Disclaimer: I met Franken once at a DFL function here in MN. When we were introduced he gave me that look, you know the one, ladies. I figured he was just attracted to me and nothing else would happen, which it didn't, because we were in a hall full of people and my hubby was right next to me. And his wife Frannie was right next to him. I am so grateful for all of those circumstances, because I always wanted to think the best of Al.

Absolutely, I agree, his behavior was totally uncalled for and offensive. But there are and were others...
Would you say that this action is equal to what Bush senior has been accused of/did? (Grabbed women's butts while making a joke). Only asking because I just don't seem to know where to draw the line on stuff. Partly, because I am still dealing with distortions of "boys will be boys" crap and so on.

True. I just don't think the Senate needs any extra business on its hands. And if he stays on, they will. I think it's a no-win situation. MN has a Democratic governor who can appoint another Democrat to fill in for Franken. I hate to see Franken go, but I really think he should, if for nothing else than to set a good example. It's just a horrible situation.

My feelings on Franken are mixed.
It’s not about comparing this against that in terms of what was worse.
If I was in the situation the woman who spoke out about Franken was, it would have triggered me terribly. In essence he would have been molesting the young girl within me.
The problem is that sexual misconduct is so prevalent in Hollywood, the political realm and society in general that what Franken did can be distorted as no big deal. But it is and someone has to set the standard. It won’t be enough for Franken to step down.
He has to become a voice to bring awareness to this situation.
He thought he respected women and men who abused them terrible people.
Here’s his chance to say, I was one of those terrible people and now I know better.
That is what I hope.
That is where Franken’s redemption resides. It will be a difficult choice and a more difficult road. With all his years as a comic there is a high possibility of others coming out.
We can just watch and see.
