@BLA Please be as gentle with yourself as you can. This is all excruciatingly diff...
Today was the first day I really said I just can't handle this and shut down Facebook. It didn't give me total peace but at least I am not ready to cuss everybody out who voted for this. Someone way back in the thread said something about "rageful" and yeah been there alot with this kind of thing. I am just worried because so many things seem to trigger anger or anxiety or that feeling of unreality that unless I lock myself a closet peace is going to take some time. Actually then again I am sure my mind can find something in the closet to gnaw on. I am trying to pat myself on my back though for recognizing I couldn't deal with it and putting some space between me and something that was triggering me.

Just saw this site for updates. FEMA said they served 40,000 meals today. Sounds like a lot but there are 3.5 million people. But FEMA is buying the food and supplies sitting in the port and getting them out to the communities. And finally the truck drivers are being allowed to pick up containers. Still low on diesel but the military took over distribution and hospitals are on rotation. Ten days after the storm. All stuff that should of been done Day 3.

Everything was and still is slow to get there. I wonder how the US VI are doing as we don’t hear much on the news about the recovery on those islands. Another thing I’m not understanding.... When the hurricanes hit TX and Fl there were big drives around here for food and donations of $$. Haven’t seen any for the VI or PR!?!?!? I just don’t understand this. Just because they aren’t located on the mainland doesn’t mean they aren’t part of th US!!!!

Trumps tweets against the mayor on PR, is just more evidence that he is a petulant child that has no emotional regulation and he just flies off the handle when anyone says anything negative or even hints at his lack of handling things.

Either Mueller needs to come up with something, or the Democratic Party needs to pull a rabbit out of their asses pretty soon and come up with something awesome to win back voter to get this guy out of office. Another 4 yrs of him and it will set the US back hundreds and hundreds of yrs....

"US Army says 55% of "customers" (1.87m people) on Puerto Rico have no drinking water, up from 44% (1.5m) in the past four days". —Via BBC News

@SheCat I found this and wanted to share. I know there are many of us without the means to do so, but cash really moves fastest. Dead Link Removed

There have been numerous PR fundraisers in my area, but I live in a pretty multinational urban area.

I think this is due to compassion fatigue and short attention spans more than anything else. Happens all the time. If hurricane Maria was the first devastating hurricane this season, I bet we would see more non-government related fundraisers and outcry to step in and help.

I think about the first post 9-11 European terrorist attack. Everybody was changing their Facebook photos and etc... now? Very rare to see that happen.

Novel events get more attention than chronic ones. Look at the on-going Syrian refugee crisis... it used to make headlines in the US. Not anymore.

An interesting perspective: Puerto Rican mayor reveals truth behind San Juan mayor’s attack on Trump — and it explains a lot

I'm not sure the article does explain much other than why there has been inconsistent stances from Puerto Rico leaders about how well FEMA is helping. It might have also been something aired on cable news or otherwise reported to Trump, and that's what his STUPID tweet storm was about.

I think there is still more to this story than we yet know, and I agree that more help is needed - but like most things, disaster recovery is complex.

Interesting news source with a less than interesting perspective. As you say, "more" (considerable and immediate) help is needed! I for one could care less how the mayor of San Jaun gets it. She clearly has more dignity in regard for the people she represents than our present idiot in charge. Disaster recover is certainly complex, particularly with the current cacophony of bs in the way! Also, it does not *matter* "what his stupid tweet storm was about"! It was just that. A STUPID tweet storm.
