As it is with all complex things, there isn't a simple solution. I still like the idea of an island 'for veterans only'. this way we could at least shoot the ones that come there that aren't. Makin' a joke of course but the truth is that more is the problem. More people, more problems, more , more , more. I could rant about this stuff all night. Our government has gone down the same road with healthcare. It is now compulsory for anyone over 25 or something that earn over a certain amount. It's mandatory to have private health care or else they will tax you. I would be naive to think the government did not have their hand out to the health care companies.

I feel our PM is a pretty sincere and nice guy, it's just his party that don't know shit about running a country.
I feel it is the same with your country. The president himself is not a bad guy, it's all the people telling him what decisions to make that is f*cked up.

I have always said, give the power to a person who has worked their way up in a big company and understand the little people, they know how to run multi-billion dollar companies, with the right advisers along side of them they would do well.

Tell me something. I don't live in your government, but I see a couple of positives.

1. He is black and is into his second term, so the colored people of America can no longer say there is a conspiracy.
2. He has got or is getting you through tough times. You guys don't know the state of the countries financial affairs, how do you know he is just not cost cutting to save the dollars.
3. He has gone through the war on terror, yeah I know it has been going on too long, but I bet you that he would have brought 'Our' boys home long ago if he was advised the right way.

My big problem is that no matter who is in power in any country, there will always be someone against them.

Who would you see run your country?

I don't interpret those 3 pts as you do, as so positive. They sound like something from the nat'l propaganda machines (our fake media) who protect him from scandals that normally destroy other politicians. We're very skeptical of our so-called "press" ~ one needs to dig deeper. There are too many people that make money off the race card that will never change & Obama was not a descendent of USA slaves. The guy got a Nobel for getting elected. Our 2-party system doesn't give us good choices. The best things about this dude was he keep Hilary from getting elected. He's at his best talking not leading, a great campaigner and adept politician but we need a leader. Not sure our current election process can provide us one. The past several Pres elections have left us with two weak options, again and again. We need to get leaders into the final selection. Then again, I do agree that in the big scheme it matters little who the President is for the big waves that carry their own momentum.

Like Jar: I really avoid talking politics, the whole deal is too toxic these days, our system is bent on pushing division anymore. I need to go wash-up, clean my brain out from this garbage, and watch sports or something that is a real competition.

There are many excellent candidates who could do a fine job. The problem is the system that allows only well healed and connected to participate. Money drives the process right into the crapper! Besides, what person, in their right mind, would subject themselves and family to the "scorch and burn" mentality of the political class that exists...

This discussion can go off the deep end very quickly, so I'll just offer this...I was thinking more of our congress than the president. The president has term limits. We have folks in congress that have moved in the dog and family, being ready to be set for life. They get so hamstrung by special interests that they're basically useless.

Term limits might not stop the problem entirely but they will limit the damage done by congressmen on the take.

All I know is this-
Even though the VA is not affected by the shutdown, the body that distributes funds to them is. This means that the VA will have no cash on hand by 17 October....meaning we will not get our disabillity, pensions, or education benifits, including housing allowances on November 1st. Additionally, many of us using the GI Bill get our tuition payed on deferral....which the VA normally pays out the third week of October...meaning I may have to drop out of school...as there are no new federal education benefits being processed.

For me this is very very bad, as all of my income comes from the fed. I got my paycheck this week, but it was for the last pay period of the fiscal year. We will likely not get paychecks anymore untill this silly pissing contest ends. USACE is taking good care of us. No furloughs (other than our parks and such-season is over in our district anyway...) yet, but we are running the entire organization off of funds on hand, with nothing coming in anytime soon.

Interestingly enough this is on the same day the VA goes broke, 17 October.

Needless to say I am interviewing for factory and security jobs, just in case. I for one am not going to lose my house to a bunch of rich, fat, white cocksuckers and their pissing match.
