So from what I understand, your government shutting down would be like us having a double dissolution. Is that right?

But we will still ensure we get paid before we stop working because we are essential to not being able to govern...

We have the same problem. Politicians from one side stating that they will block anything the current government put up. It's ridiculous. They are meant to be working for us.

I admit that not everybody will be happy with certain bills, but come on, you can't please all the people all the time.

The main problem is that the two parties have moved so far to the outer fringes of their respective ideologies, they'd rather die than give in to the other. Another problem is the American people are so apathetic about government, they don't vote, so you have primarily small off-the-chart extremist that vote them into office.

Also, these extremist are very well financed by folks like George Soros, who has deep pockets and likes to manipulate nations for kicks.

The immediate fix to this is term limits, but trying to get our politicians to vote in term limits is like asking the chickens if they'll let the fox sleep over.

Apathy, greed and career survival at all cost will destroy this nation.

I agree Sarg. I just wrote a piece about what is wrong with Wash DC telling the voters to look in the mirror, its too many Sheeple!
Too many name-recognition voters. We need an ANTI-VOTE that removes every person in Congress just to send a message that they work for us. Wish those sheeple would use their vote as the term limit. Oh well, it would never happen because sheeple depend on whatever their designated source of garbage (News, politicians, etc) tell them.

I like the anti-vote idea, Spock! We get rid of the electoral college (who are these people and just exactly how do they vote?) and have a straight up yes vote or no vote, and most of the problems would ease. Can you imagine the fear factor if people really had a choice?

Tell me something. I don't live in your government, but I see a couple of positives.

1. He is black and is into his second term, so the colored people of America can no longer say there is a conspiracy.
2. He has got or is getting you through tough times. You guys don't know the state of the countries financial affairs, how do you know he is just not cost cutting to save the dollars.
3. He has gone through the war on terror, yeah I know it has been going on too long, but I bet you that he would have brought 'Our' boys home long ago if he was advised the right way.

My big problem is that no matter who is in power in any country, there will always be someone against them.

Who would you see run your country?

The problem is about healthcare. Here's how I see it.Those that are working and have healthcare coverage where they work are against 'Obamacare'. They have health care so they don't give a shit who doesn't. People who are here illegally and those below the 'poverty line' get their coverage for free at the expense of the American tax payer.

Those in the middle that don't have coverage at work and make 'too much money' but not enough to afford healthcare, a majority, are f*cked. Before I went back to the VA and found out that they would cover me due to my disability rating it would have cost me over $1800 a month of any type of policy that didn't have a 10K deductible. Obamacare is trying to breach that vast area of people with no healthcare at all with something. I'd like to say more reasonable but like all gov't issued agendas it's pretty convoluted and involved. But at least it's a start, something.

The republicans and some democrats as well don't want to approve a budget with the healthcare package attached and having to go into affect. They're all acting like a bunch of 6 year olds and can't even create a dialog to try and solve the problem. They talk about socialistic programs like we don't already have a bunch. It's a mess. It doesn't matter who the president is or which party he's from. These problems are coming up now and need to be addressed. If the president was a republican the democrats would be against his policy. They should fire them all and start over again.

I also think this; sometime in the future perhaps a couple of generations from now all gov't will have to provide healthcare for their citizens, it will and is going to happen. If it doesn't then only the extremely rich and the very poor will have it. That will be the beginning of the end for the current governmental systems in this world. Sorry, f*cking cynical old guy here.

God bless you Jimmy, you are the eternal optimist.

1. For the a good many folks it was never about the color of his skin but ALL about the content of his character.

2. I for one feel that he has created more problems that he solved and exasperated the one's that existed before he was elected.

3. Yeah, but on who's side for the first 4 years he couldn't say the word "terror" and still can't say the word "islam-ist". Frankly, I'd be in the brig if I had to salute this guy as CIC.

IMHO.....
We no longer have a Representative government that is bound by our constitution but a ruling class of career politicians.

I didn't vote for him in the past two elections. Both opponents were the "lesser of two evils". That includes Bush as well!

There are many excellent candidates who could do a fine job. The problem is the system that allows only well healed and connected to participate. Money drives the process right into the crapper! Besides, what person, in their right mind, would subject themselves and family to the "scorch and burn" mentality of the political class that exists.

I don't see anyone on the horizon that would infuence any serious change. We have to start from the bottom up and find "citizens" who have paid the price of admission to participate. Some say it's time for "Tourches and Pitch Forks" I'm not ready to go that route - YET.

Opps, my PTSD is showing. Excuse me, time to head for my bunker. Aahh, leave my soapbox where it is I'll be back for it.
