News Usa Is Broke

We want it to change, we need to actually take the time to vote. Numbers in the polls have consistently gone down because everyone feels like our voice cannot be heard. So time to step up.

WTH, Disney still makes money. Mickey Mouse for President, 2012.

Vote for what? I mean it doesn't matter which party is in power the mechanics remain relatively the same. US is capitalism gone rampant. Extremes on both sides.

Mickey - yea Mickey I can go for...wonder if Minnie has a blue dress she is saving in her closet?

That is a good point for change Amy... voting. I know why America don't make it compulsory, because then they wouldn't be allowed to get away with the things they do. Make everyone vote or pay a fine for not voting, and watch how fast politics changes.

Especially now, people need to step up. American citizens are not just affecting themselves right now, they are affecting the world. Right now, the world needs American citizens to get out and vote in unprecedented numbers, not sit on their bums due to the negativity. Ignorance doesn't fix the problems, I though every American would know that by now, considering what you are all enduring with the economy.

Many Americans may not fully understand the impact the rest of the world has chosen to take against the US. You may think you are independent and your financial system will survive internally... that is incorrect. All other countries have near stopped investing within the US at present, which means they are diversifying their shares across other countries, excluding the US, due to the piss poor money management that has and still is occuring. America needs International investment... and the only way you will get it back, is by American citizens voting, getting active in promoting change, which will build your financial system and correct unemployment, etc, much faster than what it is, because other countries are just refusing to invest and continue sinking money into a capitalistic sinking ship with the rich draining those same funds perpetually, or the US using those funds to invade other countries.

This is part and parcel why your Government now has no money... because Internationally we have stopped investing into your country because change has not occurred like stated it would.

Think of it as sanctions if you like... that is what most investors are doing against the US, not investing their money in anything US based until change occurs. Amercian citizens have more power than they think... choice is everything. The only way America will survive financially is to get stability and trust back for investors to send their money to the US. People don't get it I think... no country runs these days by themselves, we are all dependent on one another and impact one another with any type of significant change. China has pulled trillions from the US economy because it cannot sustain losing its money due to poor money management through financial policy. So China just shifts towards other countries instead, bolstering their economies and sharing with them the benefits of being an International community.

IMHO, if America don't get out of Afghanistan near immediately, they will collapse in the next year or two. This money pit is not sustainable.

Oh, I think this is a horrible, horrible idea!! Don't get me wrong...I definitely wish citizens were more involved, voted, etc. But think about it...maybe you could force people to vote but you can't really force a person to learn about the issues and understand what they are voting on. Forcing every citizen to vote could lead to very scary results...thinking about ignorant, uninformed people just blindly voting to avoid being penalized. Sure things are bad now but I think that could potentially be even worse. Bad, very bad!!!!

Not forcing them to become un-ignorant, is the other side to that fence....

Support ignorance or force them to change?

I honestly don't think encouraging more people to vote would have any useful effect in America. It would just increase the number of ignorant people who don't understand what they're voting for to sway the system. So many young 18 year olds who know nothing about politics going out to vote for who their parents tell them to. That really pisses me off. Don't get me wrong, I know I am young too, but at least I understand politics and I am an informed voter.
It always amazes me how all the people I know who voted for Obama and his promises for "change" are the ones complaining now. I know our country has been going to shit for years, maybe even decades, but I don't think you have the right to complain when this is what you voted for. (Oh and when I say "you", I don't necessarily mean any of you reading this, but all of the annoying people I have to deal with on a daily basis who complain that Obama doesn't do what he promised).

I don't think any politician does everything, or even half the crap they promise most of the time. Its no different here in that sense... people get sucked in by promises and commitments, yet they aren't in a position to make such promises, and they can't make such decision alone, as the PM doesn't make the end decision, the parliament makes the decision on a vote here. Even then, votes get squashed if the public put up enough backlash about them... same crap, different day... I think politics around the world has that in common... full of hot air. :coffee:

Here is the bad news. Our youth have no idea what news is. They get 20 minutes of it on New York radio and they think they are informed. All that is important is me, now and what political party is gonna help me how and the quickest to gain wealth and power. There is no long term or should i say morality left in politics...IT IS ALL ABOUT MONEY AND POWER. MONEY IS POWER .and the quicker i get it the better. suppression of others is just the consequences of others

Funny have u noticed how all the cops shows are now showing that they can break laws and rights of individuals if they feel it is good for there case and everyone in the precinct just turns a blind eye cause it is good to get the bad guy off the street... Hmmm I Guarantee this..... our individual rights of freedoms are going to be taken away..They are now slowly already in the name of profit wealth and greed. Televevision is a great lead cursor to where politics and life in the US are heading they used to be about the past now with technology being the way it is TV has to predict and set the stage for the future as if they don't the whole industry will die and the blood sucking do no good for humanity butt heads might have to get real jobs....

Great Do we even notice the skanks and drug addicts Disney and there subsidiaries are rolling out ..........Do you not see what theses kids that are these childhood actors are becoming when they leave Disney. Products of our society. God we are pathetic Americans and I admitting I am one...which makes it even more sad.......... Crap I am moving to Australia!

Crap I am moving to Australia!
Everyone else is at the moment... so you may as well join us mate! :roflmao:

Our Coalition party stopped immigration for some years, as we had too much, then Labor got back in, (as you mentioned, lots of promises to the young people, they voted them in, now their learning and regretting that decision, changing for the next election) and opened the gates on immigration again, flooding the country with migrants. We are already a very multi-cultural country, but sometimes it gets a bit silly. Australians aren't mass exiting to immigrate to Asia, China, Japan, Indonesia, etc! Can't wait for the next election... Labor will be out, Coalition back in, and they will tighten up border control, immigration, spending, etc, again.

Our country is like a yo-yo with politics, always has been. Coalition spend on infrastructure, save money, balance the economy, workforce, etc... steady increases in wages with the cost of living... then Labor make lots of promises, people say, why not? 10 years or so after having the Coalition in, then they open borders up, go on a mass spending spree, wages remain the same, cost of living goes through the roof, they get kicked out, then the Coalition are put back in to balance it and get it all under control again... just as they do at the 10 year mark, the process repeats.

Forced voting, yes, awfully bad idea. Probably take us back to the old Taminy Hall days where votes could be purchased anyway. Being educated as to what the heck is going on socially, micro and macroeconomically and globally? Yes, also incredibly problematic given the massive cuts in our educational system, which has been abysmal over the last decades at any rate going toe to toe with other nations. It's an incredibly common sense solution so you'd THINK a country the size of this one would wish for this. Being taught to think for oneself would be the thing to shoot for but that would certainly not serve the various interests who wish G. Public to placidly toe the line.

It's hard to find a balanced media outlet. Even one who wishes to present 'both sides' has only the representatives of each to come and speak for them. You get the same exact nonsense then as if you tuned into whichever partison outlet in the first place, even the supposed 'round table discussions' rapidly dissolving into those annoying verbal shoving matches where nobody gets heard and everybody talks over each other. If you folks on various points aorund the Pond want a good giggle with some strong points scored, Google around until you find Jon Stewart. He's generally seen as some sort of raving Liberal but he's not, it's just that the Conservatives tend to make meaty prey for his barbs. He's just as happy to yank the pants down on any Democrat who idiotically betrays their position ( hence the people who elected him/her ), to be sure. I don't actually watch or listen to any single outlet religiously although admit to avoiding Fox like the plague-just too wildly biased and my blood pressure can't stand it. NPR does well but suffers almost daily by threats to its funding... from the government since it isn't backed by Corporate America. It mostly exists on donations from listeners but also grants from whichever government is in office at the moment. It stays fairly honest, in my opinion, or more so than any other you can get here.

Obama didn't fulfill 'promises' through being constantly blocked and veritably hounded by opposition, then yes, many who voted for him seem to feel personally betrayed and jump ship like 3rd graders to whom he's sworn a blood oath. Ridiculous. He's trying to protect us! This budget they're whining about now, where he's being made out to be such a monster? The other side wishes to CUT taxes to the uber-wealthy from 35% to 20% while at the same time slashing Medicare, Medicade, programs for seniors and privatising ( ie making a Mega-Corp)of some of it.Making money from our tax dollars and our elderly and disadvantaged. Our military personell would suffer also, under this budget but the wars they go to fight in would continue unabated- these wars really are bankrupting us, as Anthony points out. Makes my head want to pop off.

Australia made no quarms pulling most of its troops from Afghanistan, Timor and other locations after x period, even though the US jumped up and down at us, citizens where noticing the debt, they demanded it stop, the Government had no choice to cut its troop commitment, contrary to what the US wanted, being more from us. The Government would have been booted and hung if they didn't get most troops home. With that attitude, we would have become a debt ridden country along with the US because of some silly nonsense war with zero merit and nobody understands a single goal of why anyone is their in the first place. There are no WMD's in Iraq, that got squashed, admitted as mistruth, but ignored, so Afghanistan next door became the target... chasing a fictitious enemy around that is walking past soldiers laughing at them in civilian clothing, and not a thing they can do about it. Soldiers are being killed indescriminantly with IED's, not being targeted as much via contacts, and the civilian population don't want democracy or the US, UK or any country in their country any more, as we just keep destroying it on them with little regard to their safety, privacy or families. Accidently blowup a few homes, oopppsss... now what do the families do?

Obama should get them all out now IMO.

Need more bang head on wall smilie....
