Va Comp And Drill Pay

OK, so I'm at 100% IU and retired in May 2013. I just got a letter from the VA saying that I owed them for 2012 drill days and they were going to take all but $103 from my Nov check. I called the VA and AMVETs and they told me that all I could do was try to get a hearing to push back the date the money would be taken and that it all had to go at once, not payments. Anyone else ever have to deal with this? I can do payments, but $103 to live on for a month would be rough for hobo let alone a family of 6.

I don't have any experience fighting the VA for benefits, just wanted to say I hear ya, and hope you can get a hearing to push it for after Xmas if that's the only thing you can do. Even better would be if there were an end run around it.

Sounds like if you were supposed to be IU and for whatever reason still drilling. You owe the VA money.

The next thing, and I know this is a difficult. But I think that if I was depending on the VA I would keep at least one check worth in savings for these types of catastrophies. You never know when they could screw up of just decide to pull your funds.

Flatlander,
The VA is doing exactly what you've stated to me this month. I think they got their dates messed up. Because E benefits says otherwise. Whatever f*ck em and the horse they rode in on. It's gonna have to be a ramen and canned corn type of month. Good luck
