Video game exposure with war simulators can induce some triggers. I used ARMA 3 editor in Afghan terrains with radio mimicking beeps an communications. Nothing gets me tripping balls or anxiety like playing SQUAD though. Well besides Rainbow Six Siege... It's not realistic an totally overboard arcady blood sprays, but it gives you the constraint by time, the squad communication, the objective and enemy team with tons of avenues for approach an breaching of course... Destruction is a must.
I even thought about it after hearing online using it for therapy for others... I can make some really sweet ass Arma 3 missions of all kinds of scenario's. IED routes an what not is too easy. At around 12 years old I was online on the first version of this simulator which the military actually used when I was in... called Operation Flashpoint, "Virtual Battle Space" for military. I would play in "Realism Units" that replicated ranks an what not as I'm sure many others have who game.
When I got back I had tried to see about getting into a realism unit again lol... but being so cynical an critical it didn't work out... Being told some shit by some college ass kid who think's he's Kelly's Heroes telling me what to do in "Route Clearance" training... I about flipped my shit. But I did the responsible thing an just left. Unfortunately I would not of been able to convey my point across appropriately on the internet.
Rainbow Six Siege will get your palms sweaty and I don't use it for therapy.. or maybe I do but not in the same way as a full on simulator of course.
Here's an example of when I hit the "f*ck it" mode an 1v3 some virtual baddies in Rainbow Six.
