I just wanted to tell you guys it helps to make voice memos. First I was like "no way, I can't do that, way too scary" and so forth, but then I just started muttering into that mic (my phone) and telling it why I felt like shit. Listening back to it kind of shook me up.

Today for example I told it that I felt guilty for not going to visit a friend after I promised (anxiety attacks), and how angry the guilt made me feel. Listening back to it somehow made me feel a little bit less absorbed in my own negative emotion. It makes you more of an outsider to it and the change of perspective might be a relief.

I started doing this also. Long story why, but when I went to the mental health services for an evaluation, the doc said it was a very helpful tool. Similar to keeping a diary, only verbal. It has helped me tremendously. It is available 24/7 for me to vent. And I can tell all the stuff I cannot express to my spouse, my friends or acquaintances, or other family. They either do not understand what I am going through or they share it and I cannot stir their issues by trying to hash out mine. I have been fascinated by listening to the ebb and flow of my moods and my voice changes. Turns out I have quite a Southern accent depending on the emotion of what I am speaking about.
