Are you married to my husband?

@Zoogal. Well, let‘s hope I am not married to your husband *lol*. In the other thread I wrote I like it when a man is a Little naughty, but a second family in another continent.... that would be far to naughty for my taste... however I heard about a man who did just this in the news paper. Was a Piloten and had two families on two continents. Thanks God mine is not a pilote.

However would you like to join. Cooking more healthful has had great effects for both him and me and there are some really useful tipps on the thread. I recommend the zoodler, use it a lot nowadays.
Sticking to it is hard sometimes however.

@Never_falter are you thinking of a meal or some kind of treat, like a cake?[/QUO...

Actually I thoughtnot of a several course dinner but something smaller. A themed cake is a great idea. One idea I had was take a German flag cake (do you know it? It is a sour cream cake with black currants, strawberries and boskoop apples, making it Black, red, gold like our flag). So taking such a cake, which he likes, but only with strawberries - red like love and make it heartshaped. But I fear it might be to sweet because black currants and boskoop apples add some sour flavor) and it might be difficult getting strawberries at this time of year. The frozen ones are not good for this type of cake.

So maybe not a cake but something different.

Red cake sounds like a good idea for Valentine's Day.

We usually do a meal in to avoid crowds at restaurants, and we cook together. We stick more to comfort food than fancy food, like throwing some steaks on the grill or smoking some pork butt for pulled pork. I haven't planned that far ahead yet, but maybe I'll make him some brownies. He likes these Knock You Naked Brownies

*scratches head* Mot sure if I can see the relationship between steak and valetines day... but it is a great idea to just cook something unthemed he likes and I planned to do the same. What I wanted to say was that I want just one themed thing instead of three or four themed courses because then you are only busy cooking and it is a lot of stress...

Hmmm theme would be cute though. We never try to do a theme, but it may be fun.

Like what kind of theme? Romance/Valentines Day?

Yep.
I actually do themed menus quite a lot when we have guest over but that‘s of course not Valentine’s Day. In our culture it is not uncommon to have a theme for a whole menu but mostly when we have guests. For example the German flag cake I just mentioned is typically part of the German color themed menu we have for our national holiday or when there is a sporting event with German participants... mostly soccer. Then I try to serve only food in the color of our flag.

Some Germans cook themed three or four course menus for valetines day but I think it is too much work.
Is this themed cooking not done in the US?

Oh sure... just by people who are more organized by me lol... well, most of the time. When I host holidays, events, and parties it's themed. I just never think to do it for just us.

Thank you all very much for this thread again. You probably do not know but I cooked many of the recipes from this thread many times. Some new recipes would be cool.
As I described on the other thread my vet is currently not feeling well and there is not much I can do, but what I can do: cook for him, something he likes and that is good for him.
Friday he learned he gained weight again, after he lost a lot of weight before, and he was unhappy.

Luftwaffel
Airy German wholegrain wafer (In jest some Germans call this wafer Luftwaffel a Portmonee word from Luftwaffe=airforce and Waffel=wafer, because carbonated water is used this wafer will be more airy than usual)

You need:
3 eggs,
100 g Brown Sugar
125 g butter
300 g whole grain floor
200 g curd cheese (Quark)
100 ml sparkling water, can be replaced with lemonade, in this case you need less sugar
25 ml lemon juice
1 pack of dried yeast
1/2 pack of baking aid, I think Americans can replace it with baking soda
A little bit of salt
Vanilla

Preparation: Really easy. Mix everything and bake it, serve with apple sauce and vanilla ice or strawberries and cream.

BTW do you understand when I talk of g (Gramms) and ml (milliliter)?
