Hi everyone.

I am a terrible sleeper like many of you. A large ammount of my abuse centred around being woken up in the middle of the night to be abused and beaten. Insomnia in general is a part of the ptsd package after all. I have heard that weighted blankets can be useful to manage this symptom. I have found myself putting numerous blankets on in an effort to build weight or bulk and this was a natural progression before I'd even heard of weighted blankets.
Have you tried a weighted blanket? Do they work? have you wrapped yourself up in a blanket like a cocoon?

Would love to here your opinions.

Weighted blanket (25lbs) saved my sanity. For about 18 months I slept under it and when I was activated I'd crawl under and immediately calm down. I'm to a place I don't use it anymore but it was a life saver for a while.

Oh and it took me from 2-3 hours of sleep to 8 hours and going to sleep quickly

I absolutely loooooooove and adore mine

It's a Wonu Trix Korean Blanket... When means it's like a very large, very flat, stuffed animal/plushie. (Or perhaps maybe a fur blanket made from the skins of hunted plushies ;))

Technically I have 2 as I've just ordered a second one. The first, bought in Korea nearly 20 years ago, weighs somewhere between 30-40 pounds. The second, ordered from Korea via Amazon is supposed to be "14 pounds of softness". Lol. I'm hoping its a translation thing, and should read 14 kilograms. But, either way, am super thrilled I don't have to schleps halfway around the world to fetch it!

Not all heavy blankets are super duper waaaaaaarm. Some are just heavy. These?^^ wicked warm. Like a werewolf decided to come snuggle.

I have been wanting to try this for a while and I think you've just convinced me. My next question is where do I find one? Are they only available online?

I know there is another thread about weighted blankets here on the forum where they are discussed in detail.
Not sure where it is though.
