What do you do for exercise?

I like to do YouTube dumbbell workouts at home in my living room. I used to have a very good routine with it, but then I got pregnant, I switched to prenatal yoga. Now I'm getting back to my routine. I love to dance, and jump rope for cardio. Having a solid workout routine really works wonders for my mental health, although it's not foolproof.

I don't. Yeah...I know I should, but I have trouble making it from morning to night. I HAVE tried in the past, for months at a time, and it doesn't help me, at all. It increases my pain and doesn't affect the depression at all. (I also love or used to love dancing!)
When you're struggling isn't the time to be add something difficult anyways ❤️

I think finding forms of movements and exercise that you love is key. Whenever you want to try it again, you could try making dance be a focus.

But you do have to be careful about pain. Exercise doesn't cure depression, it just helps me feel better physically and mentally.

I don't do exercise I don't like, no running, pushups, pullups or lunges for example.

Sport is my job & hobby 🤪

What don’t I do is probably a shorter answer. My own gym workouts tend to be strength training, core & balance; and then I love endurance events, so hours and hours spent racking up the miles!

Movement does amazing things for your mental health. I’m a big fan of subsidised gym memberships and buddy programmes ☺️

The word exercise makes me want to sit down 😬 So I crank up the music and dance around the house…it does help me feel better and counts as exercise. I also pace to keep moving.
Depression makes my chair a magnet and my rear end the steel. Getting started is the hardest part.

I have a neuro condition similar to MS and over 17 years ago I was referred to a woman who uses exercise and yoga to help people with disabilities. It was a life transforming event. We meet 4 days a week via zoom for an hour of yoga. She gives me daily exercise depending on how I am doing. Usually we have some goal we are working towards like a multi day bike ride. I mt bike, hike, XC Ski, snow shoe and go to the gym. I exercise 6 days a week for 2 plus hours a day not including yoga. I do long distance bike rides like from San Francisco to Phoenix and a lot of off road trips, mostly desert crossings. I love open spaces and tuning the world out. By doing all the exercise I have recovered from my difficulties walking and most people have no idea I have the disability. It also does wonders for mental health but from my writings hear that may be subject to debate.

I used to hate exercise too. Nothing wrong with just doing movement that you love!

Oh, absolutely. I love Qigong and tai chi, dancing and walking. It's getting from doing anything else to one of those I have an issue with. LOL
Mostly just walking
Love to walk! I haven't gone out in a long time, though. I used to walk and photograph birds, etc., but I haven't been doing that either.

LOL Me, too! And you reminded me that I used to love to do this, while cleaning, etc. Maybe I'll start here.

2.5 years ago? I got sick. So I don’t do jack shit; physically, nor mentally.

Just popping back in as the friendly village sports fanatic: exercise doesn’t have to be gym, or treadmill, or cycling. It doesn’t have to be mindless cardio that simply feels like punishment.

Just dance is exercise, so is skateboarding, hiking, dog walking, rollerblading, kayaking, paddle boarding, bowling, mini golf.

If ever you find yourself in a slump not wanting to exercise - think back to the *maddest* shit child you would have wanted to try. Like that one thing that made ya go woaaaaaa.

Me, I want to try mountain boarding and handstand press ups 😂 I shall make a fool of myself often, but it’ll be so much fun. I’ve got a mate that’s recently taken up lawnmower racing, like how cool is thaaaat!

Get out there fellas 💪 lfg

That sounds like a lot of fun, but sorry you got sick. Are you frustrated not being able to do what you used to?
