What do you do to blow off steam/relax?

Alright - here goes:

I primarily used alcohol to drown it. Not too helpful. But I transformed that into a hobby - now I go out and visit microbrews. I got into the subculture of specialty beers and breweries.

Next up was a cellphone game named Ingress. It is awesome and international. It is available and very social. It is a great way to get up and visit and meet people. It helped me find some amazing places to see, as the walking points are on trails and such.

Lastly, and this is almost a daily for me: Destiny. I play the video game Destiny on XBOX360 for maybe an hour or so and it blows a hell of a lot of steam out. I take missions to collect things, or kill some enemies. If I get furious, I can always go into PVP and slaughter. Or scream, or lose. I always get a chance to let out some of the goddamn inside.

I hope this helped

I like to draw and play video games to relax, but when I am having a really hard time I find that taking my AR-15 out and cleaning it helps the most. It is something I have done so much that now it almost helps me shut my mind down. I haven't shot it in a few years so I probably have the cleanest AR-15 ever. If I had a place I could shoot at that was cheap or free then shooting would be on the list to.

Playing shade-tree Mechanic, some call-of-duty. Zoning out to the right music. and of course drinking, although not healthy, numbs the craziness and slows things for me better than anything else listed.

You brought this back to life. Good thread, but it was stale for almost 4 years lmao
Motorcycles was my first true love. I go to the shop and either work or one or so of them.
If I have a project for one I usually put it off until I need to work to clear my mind.
My best thing is going for a ride. You would not believe how fast you chill. The freedom of riding, feeling the power , and listening to the exhaust is just plain good for me.

Landscaping during the growing season, models and plant tissue culture in the winter. Pug dogs every day. Sunshine, sunshine, sunshine.

I wish I could do the whole zen gardening thing year round, but Nebraska is a dirty whore for winter weather.

There is just something about my bare feet in the dirt, a breeze at my back, birds singing in the trees and watching the results of hands that did horrible things produce beautiful things. Throw in a pack of smokes, some ultra strong Navy style coffee and a few pug dogs running around like the silly jackasses they are and suddenly the Beast is chained and all is right in the world, even if for just a few hours.

I have given up on vegetable gardening- too many deer here I am not allowed to shoot and eat. But for some reason perennials and native wild flowers, ferns and mosses and working on phase three of my water garden/pond/waterfall complex really makes me chill out.

God. Makes me sound like a filthy hippie. Worth it though. Plus I get to wear my Indiana Jones hat and fishing vest so I really look effective when shaking my fist and yelling at the neighborhood hellspawn, "Get off my lawn or you shall meet my tomahawk!"

The pictures alone where not supposed to post, lol. I have been working on drawing more so I can get in to tattooing. I'm hoping that will become good outlet for dealing with my stress and anger level. The Phoenix picture is eventually going to be my next tattoo, but I have been working on it for the better part of 15 years so we will see if it ever happens.
