Pardon the length of this train of thought, but all my inner and outer communicative journeys tend to be on the lengthy side.
Now that all the political advertisements/accusations are being plastered everywhere, more so than usual, I have to laugh about the supposed large influx of "fake news" nowadays, as if it's something that just now came to be and hasn't previously existed.
Most especially when two or more parties/religions/individuals/businesses/researchers/etc. violently disagree. With that in mind, one has to wonder how much of his-story is truly actual and absolutely factual? Notice how it's very selectively taught with a whole lot of stuff omitted in most curricula, regardless of the institution?
Hmmm...and those religious doctrines, too. Both of which are hammered into our psyches through the years as we're required/mandated/expected to memorize, recite, and be graded and judged upon each for the rest of our lives, or we're considered failures, deadbeats, or hellions, and then some.
Even science is ever changing, or else it wouldn't really be science, would it? Yet it is often even more aggressively defended than some other topics just as long as there's a peer reviewed study out there somewhere that states something was once proven true based on some kind of study or another. But if you can't afford to fund one, sorry 'bout your luck.
Facts can unfortunately be bought and paid for via the momentary most highly desired current-see and are all too often swayed in favor of the largest wallets/biggest fear-based agendas, yet can be made to look like it's perfectly accurate/normal/acceptable, especially with a good marketing or lobbying team. Cover ups cost a bit more than the stats, but can still be purchased by the highest bidder.
It all reminds me of something I once read that was attributed to being an African proverb that stated something like, "Until the lion learns how to write, every story will glorify the hunter."
If anyone dares to question the widely accepted written and reported tales, terminology that evokes a defensive response is used to immediately discredit anything said after questioning, like conspiracy theorist and such. Keeps the divisions quite active and creates even larger divides.
Endless hours of scripted entertainment surround us, and some is still firmly believed to be true. At what point do we have to arrive at in order to realize the absurdity of it all? Apparently we're not there, yet. Welcome to the divided states of 'merica, where the end is always announced to be near and unity is strongly encouraged to quietly reside in the rear.
