Is that an East Coast thing or am I missing something???!!!

I don't know where the term "grinder" originated..."sub" is definitely aNew England thing...but I will have to look up :)
According to wikipedia, i'ts "Called grinder because it took a lot of chewing to eat the hard crust of the bread used. In Pennsylvania and Delaware, the term grinder refers to a sandwich that has been heated. In eastern Massachusetts a grinder is a toasted sub, for example the sub is toasted in a pizza oven."

I have not known grinders to be toasted...lol

I had another sleepless night last night, but as I laid in bed tossing and turning I was thinking about this thread, and how important it is to have a place where people like us (those with PTSD) can have a place where it's safe to say what's real.

In other social media, if I were to post that what made me happy today was that I was able to sleep, or that I had feelings (instead of being numb), or any of the other simple things that we have celebrated here...no one would respond, because people "out there" don't get how affected our lives are....but we "get" each other, and that is a blessed, blessed gift.

So today what made me happy was thinking about this thread in the middle of another sleepless night, and all of the wonderful simple pleasures we can celebrate in thie forum, specifically in this thread, that only people with PTSD can understand and celebrate with us!

I just had a wonderful visit from my religious leader and his wife. He set me up with a food order and she brought me some fruit. They stayed and we visited for a little while. Such nice people. They know I'm an early riser so they stopped by before he had to go to work. He is going to be making some phone calls on my behalf today, and I am overflowing with gratitude for someone who is in tune with the spirit to see I stood in need when I had no one to go to but God.

Not meaning to get religious on anyone, but where does your goodness come from? Normal mortals have never been good to me. I have been blessed with special people from time to time who are in tune and contact me when they feel the need is there. I am so grateful for those type of people, and I'm grateful I can be one of them from to time for others.

Movin'On, I agree with you. I've seen there is a little bit of bad in the best of us, and a little bit of good in the worse of us.

At one time, I was married to a man who enjoyed inflicting pain on people. Men, women, children, he didn't care who. Yet, even he had a good side. It was small, but his mother told me she had never seen him that way until we were married. I wept, because I knew I was leaving him and going into hiding with his children (not my birth children) soon. I could not stay with a man who did the things he did and was doing. She knew he was not good, but she didn't have any clue how evil he really was until the FBI came to her home and spoke to her about him.

His goodness was helping people from time to time. That was how we got together, he helped me when I was sick one time. Took me home to his mother to care for me. I was lucky I saw his good side before I saw the bad or I would be serving life in prison for killing him. One of his bad traits was being the father of his eldest grandchild.
