What Made You Happy Today?

Today I witnessed an 85 year old gentleman and his 82 year old wife of 65 years fall instantly in love with a terrified little dog that only hours before was facing euthanasia at a local shelter. The shelter said that he'd been cowering in a corner for three days and had hardly moved. Within minutes of being placed in her lap the tremors stopped and he was acting as if he'd been there his whole life. After spending the afternoon getting his rabies shots and a grooming I was accorded the privilege of taking him to his new home. You'd never have known it was the same dog, emotionally. It's time like these that restore my faith many things. Some things I had thought lost to me forever.

Just wanted to share that.... Because it made me happy for the first time in too many days.

After a few months of me not phoning a sick friend because he has so many friends he has to screen his calls, so I have been writing them letters. He called me. He is so very sick and I am afraid he is dying. He has been told to have a year of bedrest. We talked and laughed and it was so great to hear from him. But I think even phone calls wear him out. He was pretty tired when he got off of the phone. He is so well taken care of and he is weeding people out of his life that are high maintence. I am so glad I am not one of the ones he weeded out.

My daughter is breeding hairless cats and the tom and the female are getting ready to mate and the bird is copying their sounds they make. We all laughted our heads off.

My daughter went to a friends house and I asked the older girl to stay home from school today to babysit the little one so I could keep a time with a good friend. Moms need to have fun too. It all worked out so well.

Last night before going to sleep, my husband went in to tell my son goodnight(he was taking a shower) and my son said he was going to be done real quick so that my husband could tuck him into bed. Then he started talking about facts, and such, nerdy things, it just made me happy and warm of heart to hear him so happy. He's 15. I'm glad he still needs us.
