What Mental Health Apps Do You Use?

I never even gave it a thought, but of course there must be apps out there. Checking out this one. Seems interesting. Have you tried it?

Think I will have a look too. Never even realised there would be any out there.

T2 Mood Tracker for Android. Surprised no one has ever heard of that. It's actually for PTSD.

Sleepbot for Android can track sleep.

There are calorie counting apps for Android where you can even take a screenshot of the barcode of the food and it will automatically fill it in. I haven't used them, though.

PNotes is free diary software for Windows.

For devices, a $30 pedometer can track walking, or pacing. Fitbit can track that stuff and sleep. Fitbits are more expensive. You can set a price watch on camelcamelcamel site to monitor it on amazon and will get emailed when it gets at or below whatever price you want. I use camel a lot.

Well being in the nasty skint financia position I am I went to Play Store and there is a free DBT app. DBT911 now installed on my phone and a quick scan of it and I can instantly see how it can and will help me self sooth at minimum.

Worth a go if nothing else. I feel some research is in order later too into how these apps and in particular how DBT works. :-)

Back to Play Store and searched PTSD apps, not really that surprised to find they are all for ex military.

Personally I suffer C-PTSD from severe CSA and Combat Stress.

The combat side I can cope with better but struggle many a time knowing that I have to walk past my rapists old house every time I step outside the front door. That makes me trigger all the time. An app for all forms of PTSD would be really nice.

The T2 Mood Tracker graphs various emotions over time, and allows you to add notes so you can see your moods and notes at various points. It might have been created for the military, but I think it can be used by anyone. DBT Self-help seems a lot different. I just found dbt911 for free on Android so I'll try that later today.

  • iCBT, which analyses your thoughts in a bad situation so you can re-think them.
  • Three apps by the same maker, "anti-anxiety, PTracker and MentalHealthAdvice all by soundmindz.
  • "My wonderful days". The name isn't very suitable for ptsd but is a very handy journal app. You can make it into a pdf.
  • MoonCalendar, because sometimes the position of the moon really affects me and I want to be conscious of it.
  • MindGarden is a really cool one, giving you advice in certain types of situations (negativity, fear, procrastination)
  • SmilingMind which are guided meditations
  • SAM, which is for anxiety and has different methods to deal with anxiety and an anxiety tracker
  • MindShift, which offers "thinking right", "active steps", "chill-out tools" and helpful quotes.
  • SleepSoundsPro, which is a neat app that helps sleep or relax.
I have an iphone, you can get most of these for free in the appstore.

Thanks again app. After being told by my NHS psychiatrist, in his opinion as I appeared calm to others then I must be coping well enough to self therapy I dug my heels in and refused to let another one turn me away. I engrossed myself on here to the point of being here silently night after night on my phone. What I have learnt from this forum (apart from to type slower) is that hiding from my past has always damaged me and me damaging those I dearly love as a result.

Any advise from here that can help me heal is all good and appreciated greatly.

Massive thankyou for showing me another way I can self therapy.

@laurie71 Glad I could help. :)

A good site for finding more software is "AlternativeTo - Social Software Recommendations" You can find alternative software and filter by free, Windows, Android, etc.

Hope you continue to get better, and other people keep sharing what they use.
