What Objects Cause Your Startle Response Triggers?

I'm in the conundrum of having a friend setting off my startle response every time he sends me a message online or texts me, and sometimes when he calls me. Sometimes I don't respond or pick up for that reason. I'm afraid if I let him know, he will take it personally. I don't think he can help it, it's just the way he is . Some people are like that . He's a really nice guy when I hang out with him after the response wears off.

But now I can't sleep because he posted on my Facebook wall.

Dogs...howling, barking, whining. (Specially whining) sends me into craziness. I won't touch them, go near them...anything. My husband backed over the family dog and had to beat it to death to put it out of its misery. I still maintain it wasn't dead when we burried it however I'm told it was just nerves.. Anyways there's my main trigger and reason.

This thread made me think hard because I didn't think there were too many objects that trigger my startle response. But as I thought about it there are two specific makes of cars that fill me with a sense of dread and make me very anxious. I start to kind of freeze again too.

If I'm going to talk about sounds that trigger my startle response then it's basically any sudden loud sound. If someone drops something while I'm not looking I literally jump and sometimes if I'm holding something it goes flying. Or if I hear people angry and shouting at each other.

Other things that trigger my startle response would be someone grabbing me suddenly even if just by the arm to get my attention. And I definitely DO NOT like for anyone to sneak up behind me at any time for any reason.

Are any of these startle responses followed by an exaggerated adrenaline rush? As if all of your adrenaline is released at once?

For me absolutely yes. This happened to me 2 or 3 times today. But not from startle response today. Today my anxiety and hypervigilance were triggered and I've been miserable pretty much all day. It's a horrible consuming feeling. It's as though my blood has turned to acid. My whole body shakes. Especially my hands.

At night at work any movement outside my door triggers the painful adrenaline rush then usually an anxiety attach which sees me hiding in the bathroom. I hate it, for the two weeks I work away I barely sleep.
