First album I rushed to buy a digital remaster CD of. Brilliant recording. Track 3 remastered as it was meant to be without an RIAA filter or restrictions (so it doesn't blow the needle out of the groove) about blew me out of my seat first time through. This formidable album turns 50 today!
To my mature audiophile ears, 'On the Run' is almost my favorite track. A tape loop lashed with analogue synth bits and sound FX. Greatness!First album I rushed to buy a digital remaster CD of. Never forget the first time I heard it either. "Kelly's Stereo" on the main drag downtown as a 9-10 year old kid waiting for the bus on a cold day. There was a guy deciding between 901's, Klipsch Cornerhorns, and Altec Lansing Model 19's (?) and I shuck in the listening room. Must have made quite an impression for me to remember it so clearly....To my mature audiophile ears, 'On the Run' is almost my favorite track. Rick Wright is almost the hero of that album ('Great Gig in the Sky', great composition).
