it's their job to make appropriate adjustments and your boss has to evidence that they won't work which means she needs to give it a go first.

practicing some "stock phrases"

Hi Suzetig,

Thanks for your post.

Your first quote is what my advocate keeps saying. I keep telling her: "I know they have to. But they don't." I had been trying to return back to work ever since January. HR (!) just left my file sitting there, seriously, literally not reacting. I had to had in a form, I did, nothing happened. After about a month of silence, I contacted five (!) different people in three (!) departments and finally one (!) reacted. If I hadn't done that, I'd still be waiting... My advocate (with tons of years of experience getting disabled people back into their jobs) said that was common practice, sitting it out, hoping the ill person will withdraw or get ill again. Which makes me so mad, it makes adrenaline rush and get me into the office in the morning!

I use "stock phrases" all the time, to be honest. I think I am a broken record. She repeats hers, I repeat mine.
I wish I were exaggerating, I'm not. It's real annoying. And it wears at me.

Thanks again.

How does that work with part time pension? Is that a disability pension?

Hi Notsowild,

It's more or less a disability pension, yes. If on a "part-time" pension, you get half the amount of a full regular pension per month because you're also working half-time, so you'd have enough income (that's the theory). However, you can not choose whether you apply for a part-time pension or a full pension. The forms are the same, no options! They do that because in my country the job market is so bad with regard to part-time jobs, that they can "force" you into retirement full time, even though medically etc. you'd be able to work part-time. So, you can add a letter to the application saying you want a part-time pension only but end up with their decision being you get a full-time pension -- whether you want it or not. So, it's a bit like the lottery. Can't wait for the decision on my case.

Wishing you best of luck! I do hear your worries and I'm sure they are based on (bad) experience which I wish you would not have had to make. Maybe, if you can, you could try to focus on one step at a time and concentrate only on that. Easier said than done, I know, It really did help me though, focusing on the here and now. Good luck!
