When the therapist is too busy but the staff is not...

Will also see if I can influence the development of such classes,
It’s a graduation requirement for several different degree paths... (including a degree in communications, but also prenursing, premed, business, teaching, and several others)... so the 100 & 200 level classes are virtually guaranteed to be at every community college.

If taking the actual course isn’t doable? Look up their coursework. 7 Habits of Highly Effective People was required reading in my communications class, it’s been phenomenally useful, and I think it’s only something like $14 on Amazon.

Good idea @DharmaGirl !

I’m quite certain Coursera and similar portals have universities offering communications courses for free or with financial assistance to students available, too, as well as have curriculums posted online that is widely viewable totally free of charge.

So if in person is not doable, there is a lot findable online.

In the meantime, I wonder if you would benefit from learning more about projective identification form of communication. It is quite common one that causes so much pain in any form of relationships when it is not checked. There is a great article on Psychology Today sorry cannot find the link and often feel I am not good linking others work without making a poppoo. I hope you find it.

Thank you for your interesting suggestion. I read a lot in this field to which you refer but try to stay away from the popular rags. That said, I am on to this guy. I needed to stay here for financial reasons but now planning to move away.

Go for interpersonal communication not cultural or other.
I loved my interpersonal communication class, but that was back when my brain still worked right and I had good writing and communication skills, sadly I lost it in 2012.

You can audit a class, no grade but can be there for the material. I don't know exactly how that works.

This work will have to be done with a very skilled personal therapist and I might/might not be included. The communication disorder at work here will not be covered in a one-size- fits-all "class". This is not an academic OR a pop psychology issue.

I also need to stop this "therapy/education suggestions" thread and I don't know how so I'm asking people with such similar ideas to please kindly refrain for the moment...

Thank you.

K.

So... lemme summarize.

Suggestions on how to better communicate with T/staff to get a meeting that you originally asked about, saying the issue is break in communications & not even getting through to who you need to, face to face, instead being directed to admin desk only... are off the table.

Suggestions on how to better communicate across settings, so that does not rise as an issue even in therapy ones you need it most for right now, are off the table.

Suggestions on how to get education on the area, are also off table.

Informal education, where formal seems an issue for you, is something that is unwarranted... alike.

So, seriously, what issue DO you want help with?
I am sure people could be saving *their* valuable time here with that information, too.

This thread has ended Thank you all for the input.

I’m confused about who needs help communicating- the OP or the roommate. It sounds like both. Maybe a couples counselor would be best, then both could practice communicating with the therapist there to mediate or coach them through problems.

Also I’m not sure how this all relates to PTSD. Maybe I missed that.
