Ok, so I have the new Windows 7 operating system.....I DON'T like it, and actually now that I have it, I prefer Vista. I know, I am probably the only person on this planet that like Vista........Problem is, I am stuck with it........

Anyways, does anyone else have Windows 7, if so, what's your opinion????

I have Vista and once all the compatability issues seemed resolved, (at least what I use) I am familiar with it and see no reason to change. Unless I would get a new laptop.

Hmmmmm, it is getting close to Christmas, I need to be good so Santa will visit me.

We are waiting for it to be delivered...on back order however we both agree that Vista sucked!

Hmmm...I've been a Mac user for years but needed a new computer last Christmas and had to settle for a PC with Windows. I got a laptop that has Vista. It took some getting used to but I did. However, it is not the most stable thing, especially compared to a Mac.

I haven't checked out much info on Windows 7 but had planned to look into it soon. Can you share what it is that you don't like about it?

Thanks,
Catjudo

It could be that I don't like it for a few reasons.....The biggest, right now, is the fact that the brand new computer I bought on Thursday, with Windows 7, was defective. I had to bring it back today, and they gave me a new one. THAT one is now being optimized, having restore discs made, and removing ALL traces of Norton Anti Virus off of it. Norton is a resource hog and it slows down a computer. I am NOT doing it for the second time in 2 days, once was enough for me......

Anyways, the other issues, I have are with the Taskbar, at the bottom of the screen. I just don't like the way it is. I know that it shows multiple screens that are open, but I prefer tabs, in the browser. Or just plain having different programs open at once. The taskbar just seems to busy for me, and the fact that it now goes the entire length of the screen with different Icons. I also miss the side bar, that came with Vista......

I also don't like the multimedia dock.....I guess it's just personal preferences......

Maybe once I get a computer that actually works, and I play with it, it's possible that I will get accustomed to it. But for now, I don't like Windows 7.......

Windows 7 is faster, more stable and reliable than Vista.... the benchmark tests only just out performed Vista, though the overall usability blew Vista away. All the little issues that Vista just couldn't handle or perform well at, 7 now does and has them included.

I am looking forward to getting my main system back from the shop so I can load it.

I believe you have more control over 7 than Vista in turning things on and off, but more now a sliding scale for many aspects to tone them down compared to having to disable or enable something.

I have the beta and release candidate versions... just waiting on the full version to arrive.

As an artist/photographer, I found many compatibility issues with Vista, which took some time to resolve. I had to make many phone calls to Wacom, Adobe, etc... and I needed patches for some of my other software. From what I was told, 7 allows peeps to use Photoshop etc without the headache of all the glitches in Vista. I hope it is true.

I was reading that Vista was a near mess to run on a netbook... where 7 is light and fast enough to run with stability on a netbook. Not bad.... I didn't think it would be able too, but apparently it runs really well on some of them. Obviously specs are the biggest factor.

Ok, so I returned the other laptop that was defective. I have set up the new one, and I am running it now. It seems ok. No problems, and I am getting used to it. I might like it after all....Time will tell. I need to get used to it, as I am giving my old laptop(with Vista) to my grandson as part of his Xmas present....

Cool Wendy... please keep me informed... my ms7 just turned up and is sitting here on my desk waiting for my main system to get out of the shop. We are trialling it on my system before we put it on other systems, as Nicolette has a lot of financial software which is reported to have issues with ms7... so we will see if it works on mine first before touching her system. I am leaving our server alone though...
