It is most definitely ok to withhold parts of you, your story, your thought, your feelings. They are yours and you own what you do with that.
As someone else has said, it may be worth thinking or even talking about why you are withholding parts.
For me after several years in therapy with someone who has never, not once, given me indication to not trust her, I still withhold information from now and from my past. I have so many rules and barriers and defences that it is 'normal' for me to do that. But I do try to talk about what is holding me back. In time, I have revealed parts that I didn't think I would ever be able to, but only when there was a certain amount of safety (and that is so variable).
Be kind to yourself, its not an easy journey.
