I am well aware of the complex form of PTSD. The word "complex" has a number of meanings and is certainly used to describe various forms of illnesses. However, it is also used by doctors in the way I described when they speak to each other and sometimes when they label a patient. My own doctor has confirmed this to me when I once asked him. He is a very experienced doctor and is also among other things the local Chief of Medicine at the hospital here as well as being the chairman of the medical employee qualifications board for 86 facilities in this part of Canada. He knows what he is talking about and we get along very well. I am extremely lucky to have such an experienced doctor.

@Evan, I'm glad you and your doctor get along and the treatment seems working, kudos on that.

Though unless he's a trauma specialist, and has been dealing with trauma survivors considerably? I'd be wary of saying he's authoritative on the trauma matters.

It's not exactly about layman terms vs. not. More simply there isn't enough trauma specialists with sufficient experience to treat people adequately as far as I know, and, well.

Since there IS an established and agreed upon meaning of complex trauma & complex PTSD, and one that's a consensus for this forum specifically everyone can refer to? I'd prefer to stick to the form of communication that's an agreed code for people here. If only for clarity's sake. ;)
