News Worldwide impact of the novel coronavirus (covid-19)

The thing about masks is that they help to stop a sick person from spreading the virus. Someone who coughs into a mask is going to spread a LOT less of the virus than someone who coughs into the air.

And since people may be contagious for quite a few days before becoming symptomatic, if we ALL wore masks, it would help slow the spread of the virus.

Many of the DIY masks have instructions for making a pocket for a filter. Of course, getting your hands on those filters can be a little bit more difficult.

I think her biggest concern is that it gives people a false sense of security......
Been thinking on the mask situation a fair bit. I reckon (totally can't back this up with research, JMHO!!) that by the time you're wearing masks in public? You're pretty concerned about infection control, and likely it's more a demonstration the person is doing everything possible, rather than throwing on a mask and yelling "Bombs away, Covid"!

Could be completely wrong on that. Haven't interviewed people wearing masks - they don't give the impression they want to stop and chat:laugh:

This is sort of my thought behind it.

If I got sick, I have no one to bring me food. No one to help me take care of my service dog. No one to help period. The few times that I would need to go out to say, take my service dog to the bathroom, or get food, I would want a mask to help me to hopefully not spread it. Yeah, you can keep a stock of food but there is no food so how would one do that? The minute the shelves get stocked, its gone that same day. At least here.

Don't know about everyone wearing one. I certianly don't feel like a mask would help me not get sick. And I certianly wouldnt be able to do the job I do with a mask over my face. BUT, I was like "what if I need to tell my job whats going on if I was sick" just the other day. If I had a mask, if just one, I would feel better if the time came that I get sick. That I would be less likely (not impossible but less likely) to spread it.

That's my thoughts anyway.

Yep. This is completely happening. Outbreak of Dunning Kruger Disease spreads to all 50 states
“We regret to announce that all 50 states are now reporting several cases of DKD” said CDC epidemiologist Mark Webber. “DKD is characterized as expressing or believing that one has vast and expert knowledge in a subject which they actually do not. It most often presents in the fields of medicine and science.”

Also, at least 1 person has died self medicating with chloroquine. It’s a heavy duty drug. It is not a walk in a park.
A man died after ingesting a substance he thought would protect him from coronavirus

Then power went out last night at 9 and just came back about 14 hours . It was creepy. We were having a SE rainstorm. It was windy but nothing for here really. They said it was a tree but that was a really long outage I was worried about the food I'm the refrigerator a little but it's fine . The radio worked on batteries so we knew things were ok somewhere but the mind runs away. We have no cell service here when the powers out but we have a gas stove. Since the wind was SE it wasn't really cold.

So I'm not feeling bad now I did some deep breathing this morning that I thought was an an amazing experience, my whole mood changes. My therapist is going to face Time me in a few minutes. It'll be nice to talk with her. I haven't watched the news at all and I'm not going to it's working for now.

I'm freezing gallons of water (from my sink) in the big freezer so if we lose power I can put some in the fridge. The rest will remain in the freezer.

I'm saddened by the fact that it seems that money is worth more than lives here in the US. It makes me really, really sad for us as a nation. I'm not depressed, just saddened. There has to be a middle road. I'm selling eggs to whoever wants to continue to buy them. If they stop buying them I'll donate them and try to keep my flock fed. I hope as a nation we can come together and not have our hospitals overwhelmed and not able to treat, but it is looking like it's going that way. Sad.

The good news is that it doesn't spread to chickens!

All calm in and around Lex KY. Got annoyed when the Gov. announced to display a green light for the Covid victims. I have had a green light for about 5 years... it is to display support for military veterans. Annoyed but I'll live. Being holed up with my mother will be the hardest part I expect. First world problems so I'm hanging out in the kitchen and the office.

Brother is mission essential, mister is okay so far his company had a face time conference yesterday evening and they have good debt to income ratio "IF" people pay their rent. BIL is working for a low end retailer but carries food... mister won't talk to him still. MIL is sayin' but not sounding fine.

Added: We're old school so still have our gas generator (from hurricane central)… severe weather expected but so long as I have power to the freezer & fridg I don't care.

Very tired. I have been in lockdown for more than a month now. So it's what we can do to assist. Also educating folks not to go out and to be calm. Until week and two days ago we had a Prime Minister who said you don't have to change your life you can still go to the footy, restaurants & out with friends. So I have educated a lot of folks not to follow this person's example.

Lines of people & groups of people and there is the vector of transmission #Covid19 requires. We have no leadership. They have "medical advice" that means schools can stay open. They should share that information with the World Health Organisation and the 113 schools shut down around the globe. First the estimates were 50,000 to 100,000 but I was looking at modeling and it could be 750,000 due to the incompetency. They didn't have to do any work. Just read out the press releases and information for the WHO website.

Spoke to friends yesterday and they are prepared but they don't get it. They get how serious it is. But we are all at different places.

Now I am at the not quite accepting stage.

Doctor friend sent me some information, and I knew most of it but still shocking. Oh God none of these poor people deserve what is about to hit.

We are thinking of cancelling hospital this week and deferring for a couple of weeks. They will probably start to clean like they are doing once the reality of the fatalities kick in.

I just feel for the others, for so many people so much. There is nothing I can do but be socially isolated.

We are thinking about how to be prepared in case there is a break down in law and order. Weird days. Two utes in the street, not belonging to anyone.

I am writing again, and I can get information out that way. But after being go, go, go for so much of the last year. Still got the sore throat.

My teacher friends are all still working. It's insanity.

I am tired. It's a lot.

Be safe good folks. Thinking of you.
