Snipers MADE the USMC (crack shots high-high up in tall-ships rigging, pre revolutionary war, 1775. Tuns Tavern). And we’re now the f*ck what?!? I. Don’t. Get. This.

Yes. I’m a chick. Yes. I dreamed of being a sniper. No. The f*ck I wasn’t.

((The closest I ever got was qualifying for school, when women weren’t allowed to attend; and spotting, because needs must; and playing with boys toys, who got off on that shit. Great guys, for the record, whose toys I was playing with. But it was still all playing doctor. Not real.))

I woke up this morning, groaning, and thinking 2 things…

1. That rant needs screening behind a spoiler (imma suck it up & leave it out there)
2. I am officially OLD. Bitching about how the new gen is doing things. Fawk me. >.<

But on reflection? Cha. I still don’t get what the USMC is, without snipers. Yes. We broadened our scope to do other things, and do them to their limits, but the day we don’t need long distance -precise- target acquisition? Or real-eyes-on? Is a day without people.

It’s like the RAF without aircraft, or SEALs who can’t swim; Marines without scout snipers.
