You Know You Have PTSD When...

when bad things happen and even if all you do is think “ this is a bad thing” you will go forward that the guardrails for the day are 1 dont get too reactive against the bad thing and 2 dont beat yourself up for thinking too much about the bad thing. and your reaction, no natter hiw benign. When bad things equal bad reactions or self doubt, you know you have PTSD

When you read some stupid idiot claiming that something innocuous like a parcel going missing, or not getting a parking space, or a shop running out of their favourite ketchup, gave them ptsd, you immediately think 'if only it was something that simple that caused mine.'
“But you don’t understaaaaaaaaand!”

Nope! I do. Reacting to the completely normal as if it’s abnormal? Means You. Got. Something. Wrong. Wicha. It just ain’t PTSD*.

*Not unless you already had PTSD, from something real, which this? Is not.

You get triggered from something on TV, but you Don't stop watching (unless you are with a helpful person next to you) because either:
A. It makes what happened to you seem less like a dream
B. You feel hypnotized like you're glued in 1 spot and you can't move
C. Because for Nth time you realize once again you're not overreacting and it happened and it's not normal (because you have to make it almost normal to keep going

Holy heck this is me today!!!!! The sponsor of today's efforts are self doubt and overthinking

When you hear or see something triggering and suddenly it's like you're split between the present and feeling like you're looking at your life from above and you can't recognize and everyone seems normal and far from you.

And you can't remember the month or season or realize what you do has actual impact on anything. Like you know you're not dreaming and you have to ground yourself but you can't snap of that weird evasive dream-like state where days slip into nights slip into days and you're just watching yourself from outside.
