You know you have PTSD when a friend hands you a neatly wrapped present when it's not even your birthday. You open it to find a book entitled "Overcoming Anxiety".

You spend a couple of hours studying the The World Health Organization's ICD-10 Manual for Mental Health online and discover that your mother meets all of the criteria for Narcissistic Personality Disorder and you are .....so relieved...and elated for the rest of the day, because it finally all makes sense.

You look up the definition for JOY in the dictionary and print it out to stick onto your toilet wall to remind yourself what it means.

- You wear a cutout piece of an egg carton taped over your right eye and seriously consider it part of your therapy.
- You have said the word PTSD so often that you wish someone would officially change the name to just PT, to save on your time and energy

Your idea of being romantic is saying 'darling please take 3 steps back' in ~french~.

You know you have PTSD when you hear a BIG CRASH in the night and don't even bother getting out of bed cause you are quite certain it's in your head. Then the next morning you find the book shelf fell over.

You consider seeing sunlight to be 'exposure' therapy.

You have an anxiety attack from the stress of trying to decide which can of vegetables to heat up for supper.

When you try to explain (to non-PTSDers) that a good day either excludes or has minimal nightmares, anxiety, paranoia, rage, fear, etc, only to have them look at you like you've just grown a third and fourth head.
