Your Pet Did What!?!

I'm really enjoying the fact that many of us have pets and that we find a lot of help and support from them. So I figured why not start a thread to post stories of what our pets did to help us.

Recenty, while having a really bad day, my lab came up to me and just sat very still. I just looked at her but didn't say or do anything - I couldn't move - didn't feel like it. She just stared and stared and stared. Then, all of a sudden, her tail started wagging and it wouldn't stop. For some reason, after about 2 minutes of this, I burst out laughing. I kept thinking "what the hell are you so happy about?" And then I realized - a dog's best day is always today.

Apparently, when I was little our family pet dog "Daniel the Spaniel", ate a whole big slab of butter that was softening in front of the fire, and also apparently jumped up at the table and licked all the meringue off the top of a lemon meringue pie. He didn't eat the lemon part - clearly that bit was too tangy for his taste buds!!

I think after those events any food was kept well out of his way!!

One of our cats plays fetch. He was playing one day with a plastic toy and I guess he decided he was bored with that toy. He carried the toy in his teeth to his toy basket and picked out another toy. Then he brought me that new toy.

Wow, my cat is more organized then me.

The same cat takes medication. Every morning and night. He loves his medication, its like a treat. If he doesn't get it on time, he follows you everywhere. If that does not work he will bite your ankles. I have my cat to remind me to take my own medication.:x3:

My youngest ridgeback's 16 months and does some funny thing every now and then, as youngsters should do :) He's got this funny and anoying habbit when I'm talking in the phone:

I live by myself and I don't do small-talk whenever I have visitors, so they don't come more than 2-3 times a month. max! So when my voice goes like I'm sad, sorry or excited on the phone, he comes with his squeeky toy - puts his chest and for-legs on my lap and squeeks as fast as he can! He joins the conversation, I think!

Poor dog, he must be convinced I'm crazy.. ;) But when I'm in the bathroom he stands guard-like in the door-way. Gotta love him!

My dog is so funny. When I am sitting on the throne she is either sitting beside me or she thinks that's playtime and brings me her toys to throw for her while I'm trying to do my business.

What a little cutie CherryBlossoms. I really miss my cocker spaniel. And my part brittany spaniel that I rescued from the pound many years ago.

My calico cat liked to close doors so I had to get door stoppers for all of the doors. Plus she learned out to open up cupboard doors and helped herself to the food. So I had to put a child guard on it.

And she liked to chew, like wallpaper off of my walls. And chewed a hole in the box spring and pulled out the stuffing. And chewed up some papers. Never heard of cat doing things like this but she did.

When I had my Siberian Husky she loved to sleep on my glass top coffee table.

I have no trouble at all cleaning up after my pets in public places. But no way was I going to clean up after the husky. When I used to take her to the beach with me. She would run into the lake then have her crap in the water.

I have two birds who are the cutest. When I'm really stressed and have studied all night for an exam. I'll call up my house at like 7a just to hear my birds chirp. They always respond to my voice and wake up a much gentle side of me. I really have appreciated their presence and am so glad I could raise them since they hatched. <3

The funniest part though is that whenever I wake up at home, the birds seem to know and chirp loudly to get my attention. I think animals are so caring and thoughtful about their owners. They really make us feel wanted.

My German Shepherd puppy (16 weeks) discovered the toilet paper last. On the way to bed, he stopped in the bathroom, grabbed the end of the roll and then ran down the hall with it, very proud of himself. Then, he wanted to "help" pick it up... He is a crazy little dog!

Nicoal (a feral feline rescue) has a cushion at my feet and in the evening she likes to sit on the cushion and stretch out a paw... we hold hands quietly, she won't let it go til bed time. Gracie and Elsa... sleep at my feet and if I have nightmares they get one on either side of me and head butt me awake enough to pet them so I can settle back down. Jesse sleeps at my feet and likes to be touching a foot or a corner of my blanket. The others... well let's just say, they all get their "people time". I like being the most popular "people" of the house.
