My worst BBQ ever.

Had a very old rusty and dented gas barbecue .

When the plate was hot enough, I oiled and wiped with a paper towel. Was just a tad hard I guess, for the rusted bracket snapped and sent the hot plate and burners into a heap on the fat tray.

Turned off the gas, grabbed a beer and had a long think.

Plan B.

Grabbed some concrete besser blocks from around my vegie garden. Made a little oven with three sides, wood fire in the middle and a roof/cook-top using the BBQ hot plate.

Lit fire, grabbed another beer and waited till hot plate was nice and hot. This little BBQ was a rippa!!

Turned around to grab the snags and T-bone steak and saw the plate was empty. Then noticed two very quiet dogs lying on the lawn munching my dinner.

I hate to admit it, but these days I can't even cook a simple crumbed piece of chicken and chips brought frozen in the packet. My husband just looks at me with that knowing look when he drags the tray with burnt offerings out of the oven, that I cooked because I couldn't be bothered cooking.
I am actually a really good cook but give me frozen meals to cook, and I'm capable of cremating it.

It started when all this crap in my head got worse, since then I'm not capable of concentrating on much at all. I deserve to be sacked as chief cook, but because that would mean that they would have to cook it's not likely too happen.

I feel your pain Shell :)

PTSD and pre packed dinners cooking instructions can be a challenge some days.

Don't despair, they never look or taste like the photo anyway

I'm allergic to chilli powder and can not taste it to test strength when cooked.....

As a young newly qualified chef I was on duty on my own one day in the nursing home I worked in and chilli was on the menu...

So I used the measurements I knew to be safe only to discover once I'd nearly killed off half the residents that the management had changed brands to a hotter chilli powder but decanted it into the original tub of milder chilli......
